It's not many mate. Just a few with too much time. IMO, we aren't going to sign anyone better than Wilson if he left.

If there is any truth in the Saudi link, that would be another matter I suppose, the stupid cash they throw around there
There’s dozens and dozens of better options than Isidor who’d be in our reach.

Yep. So important that he doesn't get a heavy work load.

Especially by the way, if he finds himself in the middle of a growth spurt of any kind. These don't always come, and when they do, they don't always come at convenient times for athletes, (Jobe seemed to grow a canny bit in the summer last year), but when they come, they need to be managed correctly.

This view by the way from the father of a lad who was an exceptional teenage sprinting talent. There will be one or two on here who know about this stuff.
Growth spurts are definitely something that needs a lot of care. I have seen it quite a few times with young footballers. It can be really odd to watch and if you dont know what you are seeing it is mind boggling. I have seen lads grow over a summer break and come back to pre-season and they can barely trap a ball. It can take a couple of weeks for their brains to realise their feet are further away. I know that sounds stupid, but I have seen it time and again. Coordination becomes a problem in a noticeable way. I actually think Rigg may have had a small one middle of last season where I thought his ball control was off a touch.

As to Rigg the player. I have really high hopes for him this season. Such a shame he has this niggle. I think all the talk over the summer of players playing Riggs role, may end being reversed into Rigg playing Riggs role <laugh>

Not too sure about that. He seems to be well set to get in the Dortmund midfield. I would say he would have been a regular for us had he stayed, and we maybe dont sign a Diarra or a Sadiki. Easy to forget how good he is I think, in amongst the excitement of new players.

Yep. And how young he is. He's going to get better too, a real self improver that lad.

Hes injured, Theres no way he leaves he will thrive in the prem
Really don't see it personally. Would love to be wrong but don't think he's equipped personally. An impact sub for a while but we will look to shift and buy better

Some people are getting a bit ahead of themselves here mind

just cos weve been more ambitious than anyone thought doesnt mean the likes of isidor arent good enough

that first half of last season he was fantastic and people were buzzing when he signed permanently

he will have an important role to play. For me he would have started the first game if he’d have not been injured the last couple of weeks

No doubting Rigg here either. It won't hurt him to come in a bit later , he'll still be looking and learning.

I'd like to see him sign a deal though. The circumstances are different for him with him only just turning eighteen, but this is his last year too.

The club will be sorting that, no doubt about it.

Regarding Patto:

Clearly no-one knows the full story of what's going on.

Anyone who does know clearly can't/won't post it as fact as they would have done so.

The discussion about rumours that can't be talked about isn't helping this thread, it isn't adding anything to the conversation and it is probably just assisting the spreading of more rumours.

Can we just leave it alone? We have Roefs in goal for now and Patto's situation will reveal itself in time.
Spot on mate. Makes for an awful read imo.

It’s only natural, football supporters always believe we should do more, as a club, and often disagree about who should come or go. Players, such as Hume and Ballard, are already being dismissed as ‘not good enough’ for the PL and that it would be frightening to see them start.

At the same time young lads like Talbi are seen as guaranteed starters despite also having no PL experience to judge them on. Le Bris will decide and the club will bring in a little more in my opinion, it’s an eleven man game, with different tactics and selections needed in games so ‘deciding’ who we should have is a little presumptuous.

It’s only recently that the possible signing of Sargent was described as being ‘unreal’ but suddenly we want someone better and superior to what we have …

… all good fun and fascinating to watch.

Watched highlights of Leeds villareal yesterday, stach looks a great player but not sure if it's just the system or the occasion I don't see him as the cdm we needed like xhaka, he was more box to box

I genuinely wouldn’t be that bothered to lose him.
I have said before I think he will struggle in the prem. Just an opinion of course. If he were to go I would wish him well, played a massive part last season and was fun to watch if that makes sense. But I do think he would leave a squad space behind which we could upgrade with a more useful option.

What’s your thoughts on Guiu mate? Apologies if you have already posted them and I’ve missed it? Always like to hear the opinions of those who have worked in the game

I have probably said this before so apols. When we were rumoured to be signing him I was doing some coaching with some Birmingham coaches. They never mentioned ability once, but raved about mentality and attitude. They said both brothers were the same - utterly determined to improve every single game.

He must be coming in as a squad option, I dont think we can afford to hang our hat on a 19 year old with very little experience to get us the goals we need to stay up - we must have a better option in the pipeline , it’s the area we’ve badly lacked in pre season

Yep, and plenty of clubs will be well aware of this.

He improved every season and, up to a point, almost every game ... incredible to watch.

I'd have him here now and think he'd be in every match day squad ...

... I'd love to see him playing with Xhaka, Le Fée, etc

Just want to say this. Had Sheffield Utd gone up with the squad they played at Wembley they’d have got relegated. We narrowly beat them and finished much lower in the league points wise. Being loyal to last seasons squad would have led to a miserable year. We need the best of it to stay and adjust among premier league quality players. I don’t want another McCarthy level year out of loyalty and a thumping or two in the first 6 weeks would have meant the last season team started to go flat and turn.
I've already said we needed to improve our squad.
I'm not saying we have to be blindly loyal to that squad at all....what pisses me off is that these lads are being condemned without having kicked a ball in the Premiership.
Some fans seem to want rid lock stock and barrel and that doesn't sit easy with me.

I'm not in the least bit interested how the blades squad would fare either.

I believe they’ll go with Guiu, Isidor and Mayenda

Good luck finding the goals for survival…
