Growth spurts are definitely something that needs a lot of care. I have seen it quite a few times with young footballers. It can be really odd to watch and if you dont know what you are seeing it is mind boggling. I have seen lads grow over a summer break and come back to pre-season and they can barely trap a ball. It can take a couple of weeks for their brains to realise their feet are further away. I know that sounds stupid, but I have seen it time and again. Coordination becomes a problem in a noticeable way. I actually think Rigg may have had a small one middle of last season where I thought his ball control was off a touch. As to Rigg the player. I have really high hopes for him this season. Such a shame he has this niggle. I think all the talk over the summer of players playing Riggs role, may end being reversed into Rigg playing Riggs role
Really don't see it personally. Would love to be wrong but don't think he's equipped personally. An impact sub for a while but we will look to shift and buy better
Some people are getting a bit ahead of themselves here mind just cos weve been more ambitious than anyone thought doesnt mean the likes of isidor arent good enough that first half of last season he was fantastic and people were buzzing when he signed permanently he will have an important role to play. For me he would have started the first game if he’d have not been injured the last couple of weeks
If the current lads can get to their level we will be doing all right mind. Summerbee in particular was so reliable as a provider. His crossing was a joy to behold. Not as technically exciting perhaps, but the best premier league full backs couldnt stop the crosses.
No doubting Rigg here either. It won't hurt him to come in a bit later , he'll still be looking and learning. I'd like to see him sign a deal though. The circumstances are different for him with him only just turning eighteen, but this is his last year too.
It’s only natural, football supporters always believe we should do more, as a club, and often disagree about who should come or go. Players, such as Hume and Ballard, are already being dismissed as ‘not good enough’ for the PL and that it would be frightening to see them start. At the same time young lads like Talbi are seen as guaranteed starters despite also having no PL experience to judge them on. Le Bris will decide and the club will bring in a little more in my opinion, it’s an eleven man game, with different tactics and selections needed in games so ‘deciding’ who we should have is a little presumptuous. It’s only recently that the possible signing of Sargent was described as being ‘unreal’ but suddenly we want someone better and superior to what we have … … all good fun and fascinating to watch.
Watched highlights of Leeds villareal yesterday, stach looks a great player but not sure if it's just the system or the occasion I don't see him as the cdm we needed like xhaka, he was more box to box
I have said before I think he will struggle in the prem. Just an opinion of course. If he were to go I would wish him well, played a massive part last season and was fun to watch if that makes sense. But I do think he would leave a squad space behind which we could upgrade with a more useful option.
What’s your thoughts on Guiu mate? Apologies if you have already posted them and I’ve missed it? Always like to hear the opinions of those who have worked in the game
I have probably said this before so apols. When we were rumoured to be signing him I was doing some coaching with some Birmingham coaches. They never mentioned ability once, but raved about mentality and attitude. They said both brothers were the same - utterly determined to improve every single game.
He must be coming in as a squad option, I dont think we can afford to hang our hat on a 19 year old with very little experience to get us the goals we need to stay up - we must have a better option in the pipeline , it’s the area we’ve badly lacked in pre season
He improved every season and, up to a point, almost every game ... incredible to watch. I'd have him here now and think he'd be in every match day squad ... ... I'd love to see him playing with Xhaka, Le Fée, etc
I've already said we needed to improve our squad. I'm not saying we have to be blindly loyal to that squad at all....what pisses me off is that these lads are being condemned without having kicked a ball in the Premiership. Some fans seem to want rid lock stock and barrel and that doesn't sit easy with me. I'm not in the least bit interested how the blades squad would fare either.
