⚪️ EXCLUSIVE: Granit Xhaka to Sunderland, here we go! Deal agreed between all parties involved.

Understand fee will be €20m, contract until 2027.

Green light from Bayer Leverkusen for the player to fly today and complete his move to [HASHTAG]#SAFC[/HASHTAG], one more ambitious signing.
**** me. Contract only till 27 is a bit of a tough one. Means his PSR hit in 25/26 is comfortably the biggest. Guess it means that he's less of a millstone if we get relegated this way, though.

I keep seeing folk say he slows it down too much. Am I the only one who remembers the pace we played under Mowbray? Some of his fast passing and forward thinking was very good.

I shouldnt keep defending him I suppose.
You aren’t alone mate I rate him massively too, just seems he’s at the end of the road here, shame like really wanted him to play in the prem for his club, hope if he does move on he excels

Nah you're bang on IMO. Lots of extrapolation and confirmation bias going on with Dan Neil. If he slowed it down, it was because Reggie wanted him to. Maybe he hasn't found a role in a new game model yet. Maybe its to do with fit alongside new players. But there's far too much certainty from a pre-season friendly where the whole team were pretty terrible - and he wasn't even the worst midfielder - from what I can see.

Even if it’s only 2 years it’s around 9 million. It’s bigger than the rest but not massive considering we have more sales to come

also if it’s 2+1 I’m not sure how that works with PSR, I assume you account for 3 years but have to change it to 2 if you do not take the extra year? That is one area I’m not sure on

That's the thing, I think he'd likely do better as an 8 but the 8's we have available right now is ridiculous haha
