It sounds like we have made an offer not to Birminghams liking and they have spoken out. Cortese has pointed out that this isn't how we do our business. The fact that Brum have now gone quiet suggests that, although the deal may not go through in the end, it is not beyond the realms of possibility. The Birmingham manager may be learning what many have learnt before him...put not thy trust in Chairmen.

I don't think that's happened, seeing as Birmingham haven't commented at all on the offer rejection. Don't know where the story came from but Birmingham were asked about it and didn't comment.

Interesting to see what Simon Peach has said regarding Butland.... sounds like Birmingham have been very cheeky. But confirms what most have us have been thinking, plus its nice to see he is open to a move to Saints!! :)

Bit slow on this - forgive me, I'm jet lagged - but reports #SaintsFC bid £6million for #BCFC's Jack Butland are completely false.

#SaintsFC are interested in Butland but baulked at £6m asking price. Seems like #BCFC could be trying to appease fans & raise player's value

Butland is interested in a move to #SaintsFC. While nothing in reports a bid has been made, something could yet happen this summer.

Birmingham officials have since declined to comment.

Been very quiet period over the last couple of weeks, hence why I think something is happening behind the scenes...

Some Birmingham comments:

"They don't have the money, they offered this knowing they don't have a chance. Just trying to get their fans a bit moist."

"
The only reason for Southampton to buy butland is they think they can make a profit on him in a year or two..

If he's as good as people say then there's no way he would be at Southampton long term.. He's destinedfor much bigger things.."

"Similar to what they've done with The Ox... Play him regularly for a season, and then sell him to Arsenal for double (going on treble) what Southampton has just offered...
As aj18er suggests; I too have little doubt that it's what Southampton's plan was for our Jack."

"I think someone bigger than the Saints will come in for Jack. lets be honest if you was Jack Butland would you take a risk and go to southampton, they are in top three favourites to go straight back down. "

"ignoring blues stance of selling price, why would butland even entertain moving to Southampton,. it would be a sideways move at best as they are going to be in the fight of their lives to avoid relegation. if relegated he'd back in the Championship."

My favourite.

Haha. Delusion at it's best. We're a bigger club than them, even when in the same league.

it's not just a sideways move, its a sideways move at best, implying he probably thinks birmingham is a more attractive option to players
