incredibly harsh on O’Nien and Alese who have three consecutive clean sheets and have both been superb this season. But this is what we need if we are to be promoted.

I won’t have anybody say “no ambition” now. The club are very clearly going for it.
We’ll revisit that at 11pm

It’s no good having a cracking defence if you’re ****e up top <laugh>

I love Luke O’Nien and think he’s considerably underrated by many. But there’s no way he starts ahead of Mepham.

Perhaps O’Nien now becomes the utility option on the bench we all thought he eventually would? And perhaps this was the plan all along when he wasn’t given the team captain role.

I disagree based on this seasons performances, Mepham needs to win his place when he gets a chance.

Even then that won’t be through lack of ambition. Lack of ability to execute on it, sure. But they’ve shown the ambition people wanted. You don’t signing starting center backs on loan to just muddle through a season. You do it if you want to achieve something.

we are so winning the league if we pull off Mepham, Samed, Aleksic, Orban/Fofana :1980_boogie_down:

It allows O'Nien to be cover , very good cover as well, for both fullback positions.
Obviously he keeps his place at centre half as he's playing very well

If anything, I’m actually worried the forwards we seem to be targeting are almost too ambitious! To the point of being unrealistic.

How do we think his mobility and ability on the ball will stack up? Do wonder if a Mepham Ballard defence might leave us wanting a touch in games where we are trying to break down a team. Happy to have the pedigree of course - and he's definitely an indication of our intent as a club - but I dunno if a pure 'head it kick it' centre half partnership is what a genuine autos contender would typically field. Hopefully dropping a level means he can cruise through games.
