Seeing a few people saying we’ve accepted the first bid. We don’t actually know that we have. We’ve just accepted the first bid to be public.
People LOVE to jump on anything negative,
Unconfirmed reports that the WMS lot all shot their loads at the same point and are scrambling for an emergency pod to tell us all how right they were

Can't think of another player at this level, making the impact he has (with good pedigree, which he has) going for 15 like. Seems odd. And I thought we were overpaid for Stewart, given the circumstances.

End of the day - summerville to west ham 25 million plus add ons

a player of a similar age - position - stats - impact on team
Maybe Jack didn't fancy living and working in London again which would restrict the amount of teams he could have signed for ?

for a player of Clarke’s ability its a low fee simple as that and no getting away from it

if players come in quickly ie a replacement and x2 strikers - there will be no issues

however the argument will be replacements for players rarely happen quickly for us (which the club has to take the blame)

It was the highest fee any club wanted to pay ...

... and it looks like we may have players already lined up rather than now starting the process.

The club probably knew since pre-season that Clarke would be away.

Rejected Lazio in January and Mark Douglas suggested that we have rejected bids from Southampton and Ipswich earlier this summer. Think people just like to make things up.

Judgement time now.

If we sign the 3 then wow. If we sign 2 then decent.

If we don’t get the right ones in now. Bedlam.

Fee is low, but we don’t know terms. Maybe they pay the £15million in full and that opens up budget and all sorts, so we see.

Wilson looks like his best work is from left so we see.
Was thinking, I bet it’s an all up front deal, not that I’m sure it’s £15m anyway. Pretty sure we were offered that before but I reckon there is a hefty sell on clause.

Like I said, the club surely would have used him in the kit pics if they didn’t plan to sell.

I am more than willing to criticise the club when necessary, as you know. But I am not seeing much to criticise here.

As a fanbase we aren't used to selling players because most of the players we've had for the last however many years were unsellable, would people rather that?
I haven’t seen the reaction elsewhere but I don’t think the club should be criticised for selling, we’ve held onto key players for a while now so it was due to happen for us to be able to start recruiting in a higher quality pool of players. I think the criticism will come from the reported fee, which when you look at other transfers for similar profile players £15m with potential to rise to £20m seems quite low coming off the season Clarke has had.

Interested to see the next couple of weeks and who we bring in. Hopefully we add the quality across the squad to see us push the top 6

We could have got more imo - if not dont sell him similar to what leeds did with Gnonto

If Simic - wilson and Mendy come in quickly then fair enough

i think he was always going to be away but should have been a better price

Leeds sold other players though, we've sold nobody. Praising Leeds for keeping Gnonto but selling others is like praising us for keeping Jobe while selling Clarke.

Championship clubs have to sell.

Did we recruit a higher calibre after selling Stewart?

Jonathan Rowe - £14m rising to £17m
Jaden Philogene - £16m
Nathan Tella - £19m

Clarke is just at the top of this bracket ability wise and the total fee with add-ons pretty much reflects that.

Summerville is a higher calibre of player who had a far more successful time in the Premier League previously than Clarke has.

All very fair.

Won’t do mate haha. Funny thing was about an hour ago I was going to post that I was weirdly relaxed about the window (start to the season has helped) and thought we were in a good place once the apparent imminent striker signings were coming in. This puts a bit more pressure on but still time to leave the squad strong
