Think yesterday’s performance was very positive, as I suspected we seem to of matured in our game management which obviously comes with the experience in our squad now at this level, so I’m pleased we didn’t rip it apart in the summer and start over.

Thought Mayenda did okay, still not ready for this level just yet but can see there is something in him that I haven’t really seen in Hemir/Rusyn, I know he scored but Like O’Nien really gives me a heart attack at times in defensive situations so for me I still think we need another centre back and a striker or two.

We aren’t a million miles away, get our transfer buisness right over the next couple weeks and some luck with injuries and I think we could give it a good go.

Not sure I am interested in another burstow type loan from the PL. We have enough of our own young attackers to develop.

We need experience and immediate starting striker. Mayenda and Rusyn can be the subs.
We shouldn't be put off signing a loan player just because burstow was bad tho

I would prefer someone with a bit of championship experience tho but not against this lad as think he coyld be class

Think it’d be a huge gamble if we only brought him in though. Agreed on the Burstow point. We’ve had plenty we’ve paid money for who’ve turned out to be awful too.

What’s he like mate? I’ve only seen one clip of him from pre season and his goals against our kids last season

On yesterday’s showing I would not be happy with Mayenda being our number 2 striker.

he himself needs a loan out to somewhere he will start.

we need two
I didnt think he was as a bad as folk have made out, agree he probably should be 3rd choice but still would like to see him involved this season

His movement was ok, but he needs to be more aggressive in his duels. I liked the 2 pieces of movement in the 2nd half for his 2 shots - he def should have done better with the 1vs1 tho

Defensively his positional play was good in the 1st half, him n jobe stopped Cardiff playing between the lines

Lots for him to work on but its the types of thing that someone can improve on quickly with experience

He looks quite physical, good finisher and his movement in the box is good

Looks a strong lad but suppose its 1 thing being strong at u21 level n another all together in the championship

Out of the u21 strikers i watched last season hes the most championship ready one, n its not close

I.rate him higher than the west ham.striker we were after

His numbers at youth level are very good mind 32 in 35 last season if where I’ve looked is accurate but aye agree, wouldn’t be enthusiastic about him being our main man, fine as an option but I want an adult upfront this season
I think any prem side sending striker on loan is going to want to believe they will play enough to develop. That is how loanees are viewed. We now need to be at the level, in terma of ambition, where we need our own more experienced striker, and back up with our own youngsters. My thoughts anyway.

Well according to some we’ve been put off paying money for a striker cos Grigg was ****

Looks more aggressive than Burstow as well as the physicality. I doubt there are many easy games for those he plays against .

I dont think I have mentioned this before but Ryan Hardie would transform us <laugh>

I also like the lad Coburn from Boro. Obafemi another.

At this stage I think a bit of championship experience would be an asset.
I like the lad Coburn, think hes got something about him

Scouted Obafemi last yr and really wasnt impressed, liked him before but thought his movement n link up play was very poor - be interesting where he ends up

“We don’t want another Will Grigg”, is exactly the same as “We don’t want another Burstow”.
Thats not got anything to do with money tho, people arent saying we shouldnt spend money because of Grigg!

Of course fans shouldnt want another burstow or Grigg both were shocking for us

Hardie & Obafemi both very good shouts.

I personally thought Mayenda showed enough yesterday for us to keep him here. Immense pressure on the lad cos he wasn’t expected to be a starter and he too will be aware of the fans screaming for a signing.

He showed for the ball and he got involved in the game. What I’d hate to see is Hemir 2.0 when his confidence is destroyed after one game.

We have a relatively pointless cup game midweek. I’d play him again. Consecutive games are like saying ‘we see you lad’ and confidence wise could be massive.

He got 4 shots off which is an actually really active for a striker in this league.

Burstow felt like a very savvy take at the time, you never know how they gonna work out. He was garbage, mainly due to lack of interest and effort.

Can’t help but look at Maja yesterday and think he’d score close to 30 with our supply.
