I think if we don't get Mendy we'll get no one. To be fair Mayenda looked all right in his cameos last season so reckon he could do ok with a run in the team.
Your first sentence is what I think at the minute from things I’ve been told. It’s not looking good

Think Wolves may come in for Clarke. I know they usually don't shop in the English markets but I think he'd be a good Neto replacement as he has similar attributes.
As much as I love Clarke… Neto is a way better player. That would be a big step down for Wolves.

It is but thats why Neto is going for £60m. Be hard to get someone as good but Clarke wouldn't be a bad replacement at less than half the price.

Mayenda might do well but we're desperate for some experience up front. Hopefully that's solved in the next few weeks but I'm not feeling confident.

Had since January to look for someone, surely we aren’t daft enough to leave it to mendy or nothing <doh>! Didn’t speakman say the money was there if they found the right player?

There’s a chance for one of my other favourite Sunderland wheezes of recent years: going into the last week of the window knowing there’ll be first team ready CFs available on loan from the PL (Moore et al) then finding themselves shocked, that somehow, just somehow, their wages will be way beyond budget.

These are all the striker signings by Championship clubs this summer;

Makhtar Gueye, Blackburn, £1.8m
Yuki Ohashi, Blackburn, £1.25m
Fally Mayulu, Bristol City, £3.5m
Sinclair Armstrong, Bristol City, £2.9m
Andreas Hountondji, Burnley £4m
Wildred Kanga, Cardiff, Loan
Brandon Thomas-Asante, Coventry, £2.9m
Kayden Jackson, Derby, Free
Jerry Yates, Derby, Loan
Delano Burgzorg, Middlesbrough, £2.7m
Macaulay Langstaff, Millwall, £800k
Muhamed Tijani, Plymouth, Loan
Elias Sorensen, Portsmouth, £350k
Zan Celar, QPR, £2m
Kieffer Moore, Sheff UTD, £1.7m
Ike Ugbo, Sheff Wed, £3m
Olaf Kobacki, Sheff Wed, £600k
Jamal Lowe, Sheff Wed, Free
Charlie McNeill, Sheff Wed, Free
Sam Gallagher, Stoke, £1.8m
Zan Vipotnik, Swansea, Free
Devante Cole, West Brom, Free

Used Transfermarkt for the fees so they are approximate.

Some of these wouldn't fit here and some of them I just think they are bad players but there is at least 8 on that list who I think would've been good signings, probably a few more. Not even any signings on that list which should be out of our price range either, outside of Moore's wages.

Has anyone got any hint of ITK info to steady the ship that they can share, think even the most steadfast of us are slightly worried

Some of those SHOULD be available for £2-4m.... but they just won't be in today's market. I can't see West Brom, Boro or Leeds selling us a striker right now, Why help out a divisional rival?

And Hardie, maybe, earlier in the summer. But again Plymouth would know we're desperate and would hate to sell once the season starts.

And, frankly, I think £2-4m is a bit of a misnomer as I don't think we'd spend £4m on a player without selling big first.
I think they would sell mate, personally. There has been a few championship to championship deals this summer. Both Gelhardt and Coburn will be bench warmers I imagine. Why not take a couple of million quid. Either way this Mendy deal should have been kicked into touch by now and we should be looking elsewhere.

Most are better than the ones at the club that is for sure

I'm officially panicking <laugh>
I’m hoping mayenda shows us all something tomorrow to relax us for a week or so while we get this sorted, I’m choosing blind faith, we’ll get someone in before Burnley, just hope they’re ready to start from the off, I’d be ****ing mendy off now though
