I don't think you can wear the number once it has been registered for someone else, unless they are sold?
Not sure on that. If they’re not at the club I thought it would be free. A case of Un Registering hemir when he goes on loan

As we all know we simply have to get one sorted by the end of the window, there just isn't any valid excuse for me to not get one in for the fourth window running

I think there's a decent chance we end up without again, seriously. We seem to want the perfect deal. That was difficult at the start of the window but is nigh on impossible once the season starts.

I reckon it will come down to loans now

I have heard myself about Roofe... if he could stay fit great but he doesn't seem to be able to like so I can't say I would be over the moon with that

Some decent free agents if we get in a pinch:

Aaron Connolly, who was at Hull last season, scored 8 goals.
Tyrese Campbell, who was at Stoke last season, top scorer for Stoke the season before last.
Andre Grey, who was playing in the Saudi League last season, bit of a bad boy which would divide opinion.
Kevin Gameiro, who played for Strasbourg last season, double figures in the season before last.

Campbell is signing for Sheff Utd.

All the "obviously available" strikers now will have lots of demand. We had to move quickly at the start of the window. We didn't. So we will now likely end up with the loans and hoping that the parachute clubs who can offer more money don't want them.

I still think there's a good chance we get Mendy on deadline day. And if not, there will be other players who come available as the transfers start moving along. I still feel good about the situation and trust the club will get it right.

They want €4m potentially a bit more, from the things I've read. We want a deal for less than half of that.

My guess is we'll meet somewhere in the middle on deadline day.

This is why people think it’s “hard” to sign a striker. It’s like saying it’s hard to buy a house when you’re offering half of what the house is listed for :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Connolly going to Bolton I read somewhere

The problem with loans in my opinion is it is slim pickings in the prem u21s. I just struggle to see stand out options there. We may do a deal with an Ipswich for a more established option, like Broadhead, in a deal with Clarke, but not convinced any of the under age players are what we need as 1st choice.

I still think the club are missing a trick by not pursuing other championship sides players. I could name 3 or 4 who I think would fit us and be achievable this window. It seems a bit of a blind spot this striker chase so far.

I'm all for finding value in the market and taking risks on injury prone players but I think this would be a really poor signing.

This isn't even showing all of his injuries from last season.
