Quite glad he hasn't brought anyone from Lorient and i'm really not sure the permit rules would've allowed it anyway. I think most of the coaches he had have remained at Lorient anyway which suggests to me that he didn't appoint them.

We've had multiple coaches on trial and interviewed a load of them, needs sorted soon but if RLB doesn't see the fit then we should continue interviewing.

I'm sure RLB said himself he didn't hire anyone at lorient when he became head coach so didn't really have 'trustees'

If RLB is comfortable with the situation then maybe everyone else should be chilled.

I don't think some people want to be chilled tbh ...

... a permanent state of tension suits their temperament and they don't like calm.

That's fair enough, we're all different.

No matter how many issues are resolved, from appointing a manager to sorting out the merchandising and stadium, it will ever be enough. As each issue is resolved, then instantly ignored and never mentioned again, there'll be another picked up and agonised over.

Some things will never be forgiven from Sunderland fans. They could do a million good but it makes no difference

Yep, exactly the same for me.

Neither should be in a head coach role though, even on an interim basis.
They just don’t have the ability.

You may be totally right or totally wrong.

Personally I don't have the ability to judge anyone's coaching ...

... especially when I've never seen them coaching other than a few club promoted clips.

I’m only talking about their head coach abilities, not first team coach. They’re two different jobs.

As a head coach we have a pretty decent sample size re Dodds.

Nothing available on Proctor as head coach, but I wager he’d be similar to Dodds in the performance.

Let’s be real, we win Saturday none of us will give a **** that we been slow getting an assistant in.

100%. Hopefully we get someone in because I think our season really hinges on the next 4 weeks activity in bringing folk in. This season will be a weak championship imo, 3 teams who got promoted aren’t great nor are the 3 who came back down. Good assistant, ideally two 9s, better CB who can go straight into the team if needed are paramount imo, we can take advantage of that if we bring those in. A DM would be next but not really as important as the others.

Unfortunately if we fail to deliver on a few of those and start the season poorly the blame won’t be directed at RLB.

This is where it all becomes vague and messy for me.

Was Dodds involved in the promotion, the Championship play-off run and does he get any credit ...

... or was he to blame for Mowbray's decline, the appointment of Beale and the mess left behind.

I've no idea and I doubt anyone else knows either, no offence but it's 99% speculation imo.

Anyway, off to work, see you later mate.

The buck of those stops at the head coach.

He’s part of a team that was involved in both the good and bad things you listed, so deserves credit and criticism for them in equal measure - but not as much as the head coach gets.

As a head coach, we can only judge him on the games he took as head coach - and he had us in relegation form towards the end; so that’s why I don’t think he’s good enough to be a head coach.

As a first team coach, I’m fine with him.

100%

Also not one of us knows what Dodds and Proctor do or do not bring to the party. They may be excellent coaches who just don't have the skills/personalities to be the Head Coach. Absolutely nothing wrong with that and if RLB is happy with them then we have no cause to complain.

a good experienced number 2 would increase our chances of a successful season that's all.
Maybe, maybe not. It's certainly no guarantee. If RLB is comfortable with the setup then so be it - maybe be has people outside of football that he relies on for advice/context. He wouldn't be the first sportsperson to do that.
