Just adding my 20p, I prefer Neil deeper and think played there permanently he can become one of the best in the land and beyond there.

I can't remember any of Speakman's signings causing us the slightest embarrassment. Presumably that's because they're well vetted and unlikely to upset the rest of the squad. Players like Ballard could quite easily push for a move and possibly double their wages.

Don't agree personally, Mendy is going to be exactly the same. It's still proof of them being able to score goals. Not one of the 4 who arrived last summer had that in their CV's so would be an upgrade straight away. Rusyn was the best and his CV was scoring 13 goals from LW in his best season
We haven't signed Mendy, so comparisons are irrelevant. Your initial point implied that Blackburn have signed 3 strikers so why haven't we done anything? I added additional context to show that none of these 3 signings were anything to get excited about.
If Mendy is that good is nobody worried that some other club, Hull for example, might come in to do to us what Coventry are doing to Hull regarding Asante.
I know other clubs in Europe and Middle East are interested in him but I’ve not heard of any interest from the Championship for him.
Now that clubs are aware of him and the time it’s taking us to get him they would not be doing their job properly if a really decent striker was going for a relatively low fee and they didn’t look into hijacking the move.
Of course, maybe they don’t rate him and nobody else wants him, just us.

If the window were to close now I would fancy them for promotion. They are building a really good looking squad in my opinion and have a manager I think is top notch.
