Not really I’ve maintained that his defensively capabilities are very limited from the moment he went in at CB. Wait for the season to start and the match threads go live, what you’ll see is people going “great pass O’nien” when he plays a ball beyond one opposition player or “incredible block from O’nien” when he actually has to do what he’s there to do and blocks a shot from 20 yards out. Then when he makes the inevitable mistake it’s never his fault it’s always “well hemir could’ve closed their CB down 20 passes prior to the goal so he’s to blame to and Ekwah let them get within 30 yards of our goal”

Im not a fan of his either particularly mate, id much rather see a pairing of someone like Ballard and another big unit, but i also think the abuse he gets is uncalled for.

I bet we have all played footy. It isnt always about 11 class players. You want lads that will have your back. It is a team game.

I think back to some old school teams and they had lads in the 11 that would do anything for their teammates. Steve McMahon had a ton of success at Liverpool but individually wasnt good enough on ability.

My point is I think we have a load of talent, but not much of the nastier side. ONien has a bit of that. If he is replaced, as he will be, I hopr we have that will to win elsewhere in the side before he goes. He is a player that in my opinion might rate a 6, but helps us others get a 7 or 8.

So he doesn’t distribute the ball really well?

Would Neil or Ekwah be able to distribute the ball well if they played at CB? He’s a midfielder of course he can pass the ball. Does that make up for the negatives? In my opinion it doesn’t, in other peoples it does.

I’m just asking a simple question of who people would replace from our best Xl if not O’nien because we need to improve.

So what you're saying is that people on match threads are a bit daft and can't read a game as well as yourself ...

... neither can each successive manager who comes in and plays O'Nien.

He must be the smiling blackmailer <laugh>

No one's saying we shouldn't sign a striker. But people are going on like the club are deliberately trying to avoid signing one or are incapable of signing one. Which is patently nonsense.

I played a small part in helping a Step 4 side sign a striker last season and even at that level it's difficult. Everyone wants one. In the end the choice came down to a young(ish) lad who hadn't fulfilled his potential and a veteran who was past his best. Not a great choice and this was for a biggish club in their division but you can't just magic them out of thin air. Your only other choice is to overspend. And who wants another Grigg situation?
They have not signed one for 3 windows. So not nonesense really. Not saying they dont want to. They just want a 20 goal a season striker for pennies
