For the record, I have a hard time believing we would spend a lot of money on any player who is unlikely to retain or increase his potential sell-on value. In some circumstances I could see us signing a 30 year old, mostly when the fee is small enough and for what you will get on the pitch and training ground, you can view it as an investment. If this guy could be bought for a million or less, then yes I think we might go for it, but I think he's probably valued in the 4-6 range.

You're right to be sceptical of it, I am too. But as mentioned the source is good, and we have heard through the grapevine that the club are changing tact. So who knows.
If we're going to spend that kind of money on a player I would really hope it's not a 30 year old from ligue 2.

Perhaps there's another factor we're not privy to, for example it might be a loan or they might be willing to sell cheap for some reason we don't know about.
