I answered this previously, Connolly will come on or Delap if Connolly is starting. Throw Allahyar, Twine, Tufan into the mix too if needed. I think our attacking options will be very flexible and interchanging -

Delap
Connolly
Twine
Philogene
Allahyar
Lokilo
Tufan
Traore
Vaughn
Sinik

All those players competing for 4 positions. Yes injuries yadda yadda but generally not all that common and all the best teams have settled first 11’s.

At least 7 of those are expensive pro’s with a solid pedigree that will expect to be starting every week at this level.

Im relatively pleased with our window, especially thinking back to to the start of summer and the belief that FFP was a big problem, it's a shame that yet again we managed to end in an underwhelming fashion.

I've got to be honest, the excitement around Philogene* is a bit tempered when you consider we basically paid for him with the Oscar money.

*In terms of the money spent.

Who said success?

All he said is we are building a reputation for developing young players, I don't think he specified on loan. But let's say you're right, then why are Delap and Morton getting sent here? Maybe we are offering the most money, but at the end of the day these clubs want to see their players develop into saleable assets.

Nobody did, but it's the opposite of failure hence why I said both ends are probably to strong. Delaps here because the only other firm champ interest was from Rotherham and Morton is here for the reasons I've already stated....we offered the best financial package

That in itself isn’t a problem. Oscar leaving for 7 or 8 million ok, that is alright.

Gone on loan to the whipping boys of French football, where he’s probably going to come back with much lower stock than he currently holds. Utterly ****ing ludicrous.

Whoever sanctioned this ought to be castrated and made to eat his own balls.

Been a decent window it would have been great if we could have got Sakyi but maybe we may look again in jan at him.

I'm going to buck the trend - good window - signings sound positive - outgoings no problem, even Oscar - too hit and miss for me - squad much better although we seem to have a few that will now be pushed further down the pecking order such as Sinik, Allahyar, Docherty and now possibly Vaughan, Traore and even Greaves / Macca, Slater depending where the new signings fit in

Before today I didn’t think we’d do top
6, after today I think we are further away. Furlong is 2nd choice lb, philogene will be our best winger based in the fact he’s the only decent winger. Morton might be a decent signing but you can’t lose oscar and not replace him. Non of the others have hit double figures, ac injury record isn’t great. I don’t see us improving our chance of top 6
As brucie would say”your only as good as your strikers”
Ps I’d love to be wrong

I can't be arsed to go back and find Baz's incomings at the beginning of the week but there were 2 surprises hinted at on top of Allsop, Philogane, Davis, Rak Sakyi and Morton.
Neither of those 2 U21's signed today destined for the qualify as surprise signings unless you're a click-baiting ****.

And how much of that did you do last season while he was on the treatment table? He's never scored more than 5 goals for a club! He will no doubt top that figure here, but to confidently say he'll suddenly become a 1 in 2 striker is bordering on absurd.
If he stays fit he can be a 20 goal player, he has the ability.

What are you getting so wound up about? Oscar is gone, get over it. He didn’t suit our play style and we’ll be fine without him. Have some faith :emoticon-0178-rock:

I'm not getting wound up, I'm having a conversation about our top goal scorer who has just left. You're not bothered and are happy to spin it as a positive, I'm happy for you. I'm suggesting that thinking a player who has scored 5 goals as the most at any club he's been at is not going to turn into a 20 goal striker overnight, fit or not.

OK so that's it, I'd say we done a 6/10 window, improved some areas but others still need work, we are relying on key players staying fit, but let's see how we fare after 10 games or so when the new lads are bedded in and we've seen how they perform. My socks will be remaining firmly attached at this stage though for the time being.
