Connolly managed 5 games in half a season last year. Hope he prospers but logic suggests he's an injury waiting to happen. Delap's been great but he's a kid and we have a 46 game season. Then we're back into the false 9 territory. Preparing to fail.
Pleased for Oscar that he's gone...Good luck to him....He never quite achieved the potential he showed early doors. Having no striker doesn't worry me...Who remembers the great Dutch team in the 70's? Its called total football.
I'm sorry and I'll take the flack....but that whole quote from LR just stinks of "I'm hearing the fans saying xyz, so I'll say all those things to prove them wrong" Liverpool have let him come here as we made the best offer financially. He's really trying to hard now to justify what he's doing. All the rubbish about having a reputation about developing young players, can anyone say who they have been because so far.... Vale - failure Simmons - failure Malcolm - failure
Like I said Tufan could play number 9 if desperate he’s actually quite good with his back to goal. Allyar best position is there I'm convinced of it. Bit worried about Harry Vaughan. He needs game time.
I think we can cover Connolly. Tufan/Twine can both play up top if needed. But there’s a lot of pressure on Delap to stay fit, no one else can offer what he does. Davis would’ve been ideal and made it a great window, but I think we ended up one short
I answered this previously, Connolly will come on or Delap if Connolly is starting. Throw Allahyar, Twine, Tufan into the mix too if needed. I think our attacking options will be very flexible and interchanging - Delap Connolly Twine Philogene Allahyar Lokilo Tufan Traore Vaughn Sinik
Ah well January is just around the corner, 3/4 months, mind you so is ****ing Christmas…. **** what am I saying…..my poor wallet !!!!
Turkey’s window doesn’t close for another 15 days. Suspect a couple of our fringe players might head out there.
So tomorrow against Leicester if Tufan is out injured, who's starting up top, Delap and Traore? And then we have Connolly off the bench (as he has been doing) and who is coming on instead of Oscar? Who offers exactly what Oscar was able to offer off the bench since he supposedly has no skills that others don't have?
I wasn't counting players who where ours already, sorry should have made that clear, failure may be strong for Simon's, but success is also to strong
It's even more mental given that we've been playing with 2 up top all pre-season and all the games so far... who do you sub on for Delap? Yeah in some circumstances teams have managed without strikers, but it's obvious we set up to play with a target man and someone in behind. If we'd continued from last season playing a false 9 I wouldn't be as arsed, but we haven't continued that trend and if we're abandoning 2 up top, why've we wasted all this time playing that way?
Furlong seems a decent addition as Fleming clearly isn’t making the cut. Know **** all about him but really don’t like Greaves at full back as a serious option other than as an emergency. This Morton sounds a decent larker but would have been nice to give Simons a run and see how he did. Philogene is exciting. ffs at least wait until January to see how they actually do with a run of games
I’d say Twine probably takes Tufan’s spot if he’s out, will be good to see him in that role I think he’s wasted on the wing
Who said success? All he said is we are building a reputation for developing young players, I don't think he specified on loan. But let's say you're right, then why are Delap and Morton getting sent here? Maybe we are offering the most money, but at the end of the day these clubs want to see their players develop into saleable assets.
So we go all in for Davis, line up Oscar to leave. Davis falls through then continue with letting Oscar go anyway. that is a massive oversight and one I fear will hurt us. Anyway bed time.
And who comes off the bench in place of Oscar? Who is our replacement big strong poacher? Since we have other players who can offer what Oscar was offering?
And how much of that did you do last season while he was on the treatment table? He's never scored more than 5 goals for a club! He will no doubt top that figure here, but to confidently say he'll suddenly become a 1 in 2 striker is bordering on absurd.
