Decent player but too injury-prone for us to consider. There aren’t a lot of Championship-quality ball-winning #6s that are in their prime to choose from. Bielik was one but too injury-prone and has gone to Brum. Only others off the top of my head are Ben Whiteman at Preston and Lewis Travis at Blackburn. Aside from them, you’re looking at players abroad, taking a gamble on someone from League 1 like Terry Taylor at Burton or George Dobson at Charlton or loaning from a Prem team.
For young premier league we’ve got the young Marc Leonard who just starred in league 2 for Northampton, 2.2 tackles and 1.4 interceptions a game. Tim Iroegbunam at Villa who averaged 2 a game in the champ. They’d be my picks from players im aware of.
Seem to remember @Steven Toast saying we were interested in Leonard a few months ago. Wonder if that's still the case
Clearly we have a difference of opinion on Elder. It happens...If we bring in someone who is fundamentally better, then I'll be the first to acknowledge it. I wait to see. Yes, I agree we do have a decent core and with a few additions we could challenge. No doubt about it.
Tim Iroegbunam had an up-and-down year at QPR so I wouldn't go near him. He'll no doubt turn into a very good player over the next few years but not sure he's what we need and he's a bit sloppy on the ball when I've seen him.

I get you but we already have Xavier Simons so I’d rather not sign a young defensive midfielder on loan from a Prem club. Ideally want someone in their mid 20s who has played at this level (or equivalent abroad) who can come straight in and be that physical, ball-winning midfielder we’ve been lacking since Smallwood. The only ones who seem to fit the bill that we could realistically sign if we sold Greaves and/or Óscar for big money is Whiteman or Travis. I can’t think of many abroad who would come to the Championship. Maybe Senne Lynen from Union SG in Belgium? Lamine Diack from Ankaragücü in Turkey?
I’d argue that’s as much down to who he was coached by last season TBF. I watched him at the u19 Euros and thought he looked good. Played under very direct coaches this season.
He was good for at the u19 Euros but he seems to have a tendency to do the hard bit and then mess up the easy bit. I swear he had a bit of a nightmare against us too.
I'm just not sure a 19-year-old loanee is the right way to go. I'd have no issues with Leonard though, get him permanently and we can ease him in with Simons and wouldn't cost the world either

What on earth is that based on? Rosenior brought him back from his first injury against Fulham at the start of January and he got injured again at Coventry in March. In the meantime he had 3 weeks off after the red card at Sheff United.

Tetteh only got injured the second time because he pushed himself too far. It was a loose ball and he massively overstretched to try and chase it and get it under control as he'd have been in a good position. I could tell the second he stretched his leg out like that that it wasn't a good idea and I imagine if he'd have done that off the back of 30 consecutive starts he'd have still picked up that injury. I think he tried to make the most of that opportunity as he'll have been desperate to up his scoring tally.
Apologies, with all the Maguire hate these days I read it as you countering SS and implying Maguire also wasn't ready to step up.
I raised as a concern last summer that if our strategy is to buy half a dozen players and then hope that we hit it rich with a few of them to sell each year in order to fund the next set of players relies on hitting it rich consistently, something incredibly hard to do in football. If we're already having to sell Oscar as well as Greaves just to keep our head above water it means we're stretched pretty thin in terms of saleable assets. What happens next summer? We're relying on another kid coming through from the Academy - maybe we're going to be trying to sell Vaughn? It just feels like a high risk strategy where we've been incredibly lucky so far and can't rely on repeating that luck year in year out.
It reminds me of the Allams seeing the fees we got for Maguire and Robertson and thinking the buy low sell high approach was easy as piss and signing guys like Kev Stewart and Kingsley who were worth **** all.
