£5m would be outstanding business. I hope we take a longer term approach, but as long as they fit Rosie's system it should work out alright
Greaves is decent but replaceable and second choice at CB behind SM. Oscar good goal scoring record but think he’d of posed a problem anyway as he’s not at the level with his back to goal. If we get decent fees and make some quality additions, I think it’s best for everyone involved. Recruitment could’ve been better last year but the squad is undoubtedly stronger now and I think more worked out than didn’t.
So what happened to the KLP money? I can’t make the maths work…. Can someone help me? Yes our wage bill has increased, but not by 15 mill pa. I don’t recall us splashing the cash on big fees. So where has it gone, to be in a position where we have to sell to buy. Loads of FPP headroom we were told, signifinicantly increased commercial revenues. I just don’t understand it tbh
I'm just watching th transfer show and Mount going to Manure. They were discussing why so many transfers will be ratified the first week in July with 31 June being the end fo the Football Financial year. If deals are done before 31 June they would affect the FFP for this season. Might explain why nothing has been done until now. First time ive sort of understood it..
Sinik, Allahyar and Ozan was £10m alone. Factoring in some very high wage loans, extensions to some key players involving large salary increases + signings of free agents.
Using the same logic, there won't be many left, and an awful lot of new signings between now and 1st September...Can't wait to see'em.
Low turnover in comparison to a lot of our competitors. You can see the P&L for the FFP reporting period prior to last summer by googling the last 3 sets of accounts and without a write down of the allam house loan we would be in the negative. Allegedly this write down does not count for FFP. The headroom thing seems to have been a bit of Allam spin to justify their lack of investment but as crowds and commercial interest dropped that impacted turnover as well, further limiting headroom. Pretty much all the upfront KLP money went of fees and the uptick in commercial income may well be significant from the low base we were at but certainly doesn't cover multiple contracts at 1m or thereabouts a year.
What you’ve said makes no sense - we just didn’t renew his contract and we didn’t have an option year either which I think they might’ve taken had it been there. Only real comparable is Coyle, and he’s club captain. As for the rest of what you’ve said, I think we’ve got a decent core group that, with a few additions, could challenge for top 6. You’re delusional if you think elder was good enough to start regularly for a promotion chasing team, or that there isn’t many of our current team that are good enough to play a big role in a playoff push
If he was a top half championship player he'd still be in the championship. Especially being available on a free
How do we know his replacement would be an unknown quantity? If the squad is weaker at the end of the window then by all means panic, but the expectation we can kick on that seems very real amongst the hierarchy of the club has to be based on being stronger overall.
But he’s proven himself this season with next to no service at all. Risky swapping someone that you know can score at this level for another unknown quantity. Are we going to get lucky twice?
What if we get a proven, experienced championsbip or international player as his replacement? Can't judge the business until its done.
It’s always a risk, if he doesn’t suit lr style then cashing in now is a good move. If he doesnt get many that bounce off him this season, his price drops
You can’t. But it will be the start of another season with key player changes and I’d question whether there’s time for building team cohesion before the start of the season. It seldom works making a significant amount of changes all the time.
If being a no9 in a system was just about finishing, then Tyler Smith scored a goal every 157 minutes for us last season as opposed to Oscar's 1 in 197. Not saying the two are comparable in terms of what they contribute overall, but it highlights the importance of other aspects of centre Forward play beyond simple finishing.
Everything coming out of the club suggests there won't be huge turnover. 5-6 incomings 2 of which will be a LB and Keeper.
I suspect the sale of Oscar might be that LR seemed to fancy Tetteh in front of him when he was fit for 5 games...
