Eaves’ first touch was horrendous.
I always thought Eaves second touch was a tackle...Couldn't trap a proverbial 'bag of cement'.
The lad must have had a right purple patch at Gillingham, a bit like Bradley Dack, whom I noticed as being released by Blackburn, along with Brereton-Diaz.

When are the accounts published for 22/23 season? I don’t want to get into a long-winded debate about FFP but I still can’t wrap my head around how we went from having the biggest headroom in the Championship to now being close to the FFP limit.

I don’t understand either, even weirder when you factor in the the 15-20mill KLP money…..
I don’t get it

Nah, his second touch was usually a free kick.

If some of the wages discussed on here are anywhere near the mark then the accounts should make very interesting reading indeed.
I think last summer was exciting but as bad as any recent Allam transfer window. Appreciate the ambition but they’ve set us back in terms of being ambitious at present IMO. They talk about not being patient but the only way I feel we’d have a chance of making top 6 is if they gamble on the clubs short term future.

But doesn’t FFP prevent that? If he’s gonna spend a lot, the. He has to get big wage earners of the books.

Supposedly, we’re looking at Haji Wright again but it won’t be cheap. We could potentially whittle down Antalya’s asking price by a couple million if we include Sinik as part of the deal.

Blown my mind a bit to read that Haji Wright is at Antalyaspor. I must be mixing up recent City targets because I thought he played somewhere decent. Certainly didn't occur to me that he'd been dicking about in the same team as Sinik the last 6 months.

Some clubs (derby and some others also) try to short circuit FFP by spunking the rules and gambling on promotion before the EFL catches up with them, by which time they're under the jurisdiction of the Premier league and FFP headroom is much greater.

Some have got away with it, some haven't and it doesn't look like Acun is going to be that kind of owner.

If him and Sinik can dick about in our team for the next six months and both contribute the same amount, we'll be laughing.

I'm saying we're paying a small fortune for a player that (according to you) has a 1 in 3 goal ratio and has not improved us enough to justify the amount of money it is costing. You have cited mitigating circumstances, so lets see what happens next season.

A 1 in 3 goal ratio works out at 15 goals a season over 46 games, then you've got at least two cup games as well. Most Championship strikers who average that over multiple seasons go on to play in the Premier League.

When you look at strikers we've had in the past few seasons, I think it's obvious he's far better than Magennis, Eaves or Smith, it's not even close. I think he *can* hold the ball up, I just don't think that's the best way to use him. He's very good at playing others in when the team is transitioning forward, as opposed to getting the ball and then standing with it to wait for support (which we've had to do multiple times because we lacked pace out wide or other striker options). Tetteh is much better at this, playing the two of them together, for me anyway, sees us play better as a team, but because of injuries we didn't get to see enough of that.

How can that be true when his passing stats are so bad?

For successful passes he's in the 1st percentile, for pass completion rate he's in the 10th percentile, and for key passes he's in the 26th percentile.
