Presumed the left back would be one of the first signings of the window considering Elder been shipped off already.

I wonder if there’s anything in that Mathias Fixelles rumour. Player himself said in an interview he almost joined us in January. He’s a defensive midfielder who plays for Westerlo in the Belgian top flight.

Would make sense if we spotted him whilst keeping tabs on Reynolds

We were trying to sign the Konrad De La Fuente, he is a left winger aged 21 and American, who is owned by Olympique Marseille but was on loan to Greek club Olympiacos (owned by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis) last season in the last transfer window. The odd thing is, De La Fuente only started 3 league games for Olympiacos last season and he hasn't started a 1st team game since September 2022!!

Hamstring waiting to happen then

Only two two Turkish players were signed in the last two seasons and we signed both of them, what does that say about how highly the Turkish league is rated?

The list of Dutch players who've played in the Championship is a fairly long one (and this is just Dutch born players, not all the players who came here from the Eredivisie)...

I'm not sure what you're arguing here. I've never said the Turkish League was great, it isn't, nor is it as good as the Dutch League.

I was merely saying that we should centre our recruitment around leagues we know extensively. I thought this was common sense to be honest. Huddersfield had success by exploiting the German 2nd Division as have Norwich, Brentford used the Scandinavian leagues extremely well, and they aren't particularly strong leagues either. The knowledge of the league is probably more important than the overall strength of a league (within reason)

No, you're talking complete bullshit. In the last 2 years, can you guess how many players Championship clubs have signed from the Eredivisie? 3, and one of those has never played a game in the Championship. That's 4 transfer windows and 30-ish clubs and they've only signed 3 players from the Dutch league in that time. It's the clearest indication that Championship clubs don't think signing players from Holland is a good bet for the style, intensity and physicality of the Championship.

And no, I said there's not a massive difference between the National League and the bottom of L1 (as Stockport look pretty likely to prove on Saturday)

I wouldn't mind betting there's more Dutch who've played in the English leagues than Turks and Yanks combined.

Does owning a Dutch club not count as 'extensive' enough for you?

Not really as the owner shouldn't be identifying players (although I'm sure he did last year)

No but its fairly irrefutable that he has the contacts over there to be able to access the scouting knowledge-base, same as he would over here.

And if the owners shouldn't be identifying players then what 'extensive knowledge' would Rosey and Darno have specific to Turkiye or MLS?

Yeah, seen that. It's bollocks. At least barring a disasterous start next season.

It's just factually incorrect clickbait.

Only time we 'struggled to stay in the league' was under Shota.

Besides, Acun's not going to stand in front of fans saying he definitely has the right man 2 weeks ago then post cosy pics of himself with Rosenior attending Man C vs Real last week if the daggers were out.

Slow news day in Turkiye I reckon. Or its a story planted by Emre's agent to generate interest.

I’d stop going if that piece of **** became our manager.

That's an appointment that would undo all the good with fans Acun has done since he's been here. Especially if he's seen to be shafting Liam to appoint the ****.

Yep, 3 seperate occasions in his stint in England, the bad press it’d bring would be terrible for us beyond the morale outlook of hiring someone convicted of a hate crime

I can't imagine he'd get a decent job in England. Only clubs that would even be remotely tenable would be those who have previously employed Joey Barton :cheesy:.

It's a "shop window" article out of Turkiye. It's not worth serious consideration.
