It's a huge sign of intent from both sides imo.. things changed massively ( for greaves ) after the last home game.

It's a fantastic deal for all parties and long may those kind of deals for our good players continue

All I've ever said. Long term deals for our talented young players are a must, and secure both the player and club's interests over the coming years.

Do who out of our talented youngsters bar KLP have we not signed or re signed in the last 8 months?

Happy now?

Not sure why this is framed as an attack, but yes I am quite happy with Greaves signing. Fleming tied up too, as is Cartwright. As someone else said, we're now in a really strong position contracts-wise.

We now have at least 12 months to sign any further players to new deals (think Elder probably the only one likely from the next batch out of contract and even he's touch and go), and if we really want to start being proactive, guys with 2 years (inclusive of option) could start being offered new deals come January/second half of the season so we don't even have to trigger the one year option if we don't want to.

Finally in the sort of position the club should always have been in, with the power in the club's hands. Determine the value of players, offer them contracts, negotiate somewhat, but if nothing can be resolved, sell the player while there's still time on their deal to get some value out of them in the transfer market, rather than letting them walk away for nothing.

Don't know why you perceived it as an attack.

I'm curious about this. Is it about the supportive chants his way, encouraging him to stay etc? Between that, the result, our start in general and the atmosphere/mood at games recently, you can see how it might help a player make his mind up that this is a place to stick around.

Always found it weird how rarely his name is sung. It's like we've got so used to having a handful of Hull lads in the team that we don't even consider it noteworthy enough to sing about most of the time.

Your "Happy now?" is quite clearly meant as a dig at me previously taking issue with news out of the club, which has now been resolved with, er, the things I was taking issue with being resolved. Seems pretty straight forward to me.

"I'm concerned Greaves might leave"

"Well he's signed a new contract! Happy now??"

"Yeah I am, as I'm now no longer concerned he might leave"

Like, bloody hell haha. It's like asking someone who complained about being hungry who's just finished a big dinner if they're still complaining about being hungry "Well no, I've just eaten". <laugh>

Yeah, it's a good feeling.

If the incomings come in, we really could have a squad capable of doing something when we get injuries back as well.

Happy days. Glad you're happy. <cheers>

From what I'm hearing both parties made concessions on previous hurdles and it was all pretty straightforward, easy and resolved quite quickly this week after that.

From a personal POV I can't see how either side would want any other outcome, it's a win win all round. The kids almost certainly going to be a prem player and this contract means it will either be with us in the next season or 2 and if not the club will not be held to Ransome re a fee if he moves. From the players POV he has security over his future, is doing extremely well out if it financially and most importantly can now concentrate on become the player we all know he can be, surrounded by some amazing talent, at a club on the up with a buzz around it and really pushing for the prem

What an exciting time to be a City fan! Excellent piece of business with JG, other additions exciting, but this is icing on the cake, the real deal. A long term deal, no doubt with release clauses, hopefully he becomes a Premier League player with us, but he has options. Win win. He will develop immeasurable going forward with the better calibre of players around him, not just defensively, but positioning, linking forward play, as will Slater also.

Ecstatic Tigress, currently back in my happy place in Paphos, having survived a 4 1/2 hour flight sat next to two delusional Leeds supporters....there was some tasty banter going on!! Needless to say, I’m a Hull lass, you can take a girl out of Hull, you can’t take Hull out of the girl..... I gave as good as I got!!
