I've had a message to tell me to tell me that the club have put in a bid to take Cenk Tosun on loan after we failed to convince Yilmaz to come (he's had an offer from Turkey). Makes sense, he's an experienced striker and a proper number 9.
Isn't he a free agent after being released?

EDIT: He's a free transfer, I'd disregard this if I were you!

I think I read an article the other day where Yilmaz confirmed he's met with Acun but told him he can't manage the intensity of the championship at his age, so he declined the offer to sign for us.

I personally think out of the two, Tosun would be the better choice, if we can keep him fit.

Yeah I think Yilmaz wants to go back to Turkey because the league isn't as intense and it's less games. Tosun is also very good friends with Acun, I think at the very least we'll see him come in on trial.

Let’s just hope playing consistently will help him stay fit as he seems incapable of it.

Yeah that's a bit of an issue, however if he's coming in on a free transfer, it at least mitigates any daft costs. His wages won't be cheap by our standards though.

Dwight Gayle wants out of Newcastle, he has to be worth a look.

Yeah I mean it depends on what sort of magic Acun can weave, they're good friends so never say never, but I agree we could easily sign a younger, fitter striker for less wages.
It’s a very easy link to make given their relationship I guess. Didn’t he turn us down in January? Not a fan of it unless it was relatively cheap which I doubt will happen. Although this wouldn’t suggest he has any reoccurring injuries more so just been unlucky which is probably down to lack of playing time

Let's be honest, any transfer is a gamble, especially one from the continent.

Honeyman doesn't appear to have any competition whatsoever in our squad; he's easily our best midfielder in the role that he plays, so he needs quality competition to push him and ensure his performances don't drop. Plus his injury record isn't the best and when he didn't play last season we really suffered. Seri would come in to push Slater, while Ozan comes in to play in the number 8 role.

None of the new signings would be guaranteed starters as of now (with the possible exception of Allahyar as we don't actually have another quality striker), they're here to create depth of quality to the squad. We saw it with Baxter, he isn't necessarily a better keeper than Ingram right now, but the two pushed each other to be better for us and we saw some great performances from both as a result. A quality centre half would no doubt push the likes of Greaves and Macca to do well too.

I see Ozun as coming in deep lying CM.

Just a hunch though. Might be wrong.

If you can keep him fit, he'd be a monster at this level though. Fair enough, he couldn't do it in the PL but that doesn't matter, in Turkey he was a monster and he when he went back to Besiktas he got 3 in 3. Funnily enough, he's only had injury problems since he went to Everton and stopped playing. He'll need a full intense pre season but I'd take him all day long.

It's very harsh to question Honeyman's injury record. He's played through injuries for long parts in both of the last two seasons. He's made himself available when other players wouldn't have.

Yes he did, and eventually he succumbs to those injuries and we struggle as a result. I'm not questioning the lad's desire to play for us, I'm simply highlighting the fact that without him we're easily a poorer side and we need somebody of equal or better quality to be able to come in and take his place.

You think players require a guarantee that they're first choice to sign a new contract?

I think it's ridiculous to suggest that George rejected the contract offer because he's in a sulk at not being guaranteed a place in the side. Think that's a massive disservice to him.
Well as you didn’t say either of those things I’m not sure why you’re asking, but no I don’t and I agree.
But I replied to something different that you said
