West Ham United are keen on signing current City & Manchester United defender Di’Shon Bernard during the summer transfer window. (SundayMirror)
Too risky unless some amazing deal could be done. Big wages and he's 30 odd now - don't think he's played or scored much for a few years.
Seems like agent talking up his player, I cannot see West Ham signing a centre back who can't into the 1st team of a lower Championship side. I know fans wre raving about his performances when McCann was in charge but Di'shon could always pull a mistake out of the bag at anytime. He has fallen down the pecking order since Shota has arrived.
The article I saw was headlines about how Gary Neville was recommending West Ham to sign Bernard, but the only quotes were old ones of Neville saying how he was good during the loan at Salford and they'd love to sign him but thought it unlikely. I'd love us to sign him if the wages were reasonable as I thnk he has promise as a back up CB, but WHU are never going to be interested in someone who couldn't get a regular place for a team battling relegation in the division below.
I think Bernard has the potential to be a top level defender. I imagine WHU would be buying him to loan him out for another season. I think we can develop him here so I hope we’re in for him.
He’s a Londoner so I guess joining a London club would appeal. Had a big family contingent at the Luton game earlier this season.
Moyes will be aware of him from his time in the United youth set up won’t be? I’d keep all our loanees to be honest, with the possible exception of Walsh who doesn’t seem to have done much but again looks like he could with game time.
Can we look at getting Sorba Thomas from Huddersfield? He looks a classy player them. Would cost a wedge through.
The usual reason - money. If what we hear from Acun regarding his plans for the team are true - then a few players and agent's heads may well be turned at what we can now offer.
