I wonder if some of our potential winnings upon promotion will be invested into these firms? Kind of like:

"Hey, we're really gonna go for promotion, you could invest now at a low price, then be sponsoring a Premier League club and get global exposure, plus some money invested into your company if we pull this off"

Sold to them like that, it would seem like less of a risk and more like a decent chance of getting your company seen around the world.

Do you not think its because well be on all Acun's channels wherever in the world and most likely have a player in the squad from those countries also? As well as national. Coverage here is if we're up towards the top 6 of go on a cup run?

Acun's reach is massive. That's probably made the difference.

Maybe, but I think the more natural reading of it is that it's the biggest deal we've had in the Championship.

Anyway, if they are paying us over £10m over 3/4 years there must be more to the deal than we currently know about. Irrespective of the Turkish connections that level of deal for sponsoring an average Championship club makes no financial sense. As you say, they could have probably sponsored a lower prem team for that.

Makes sense to me when you look at the large Turkish following we've generated, which Corendon will want to get in front of. I believe around half, if not more of all social media followers for City's channels, across various platforms are now Turkish. There was a huge surge of new followers after the takeover. There's a lot more going on too. One of the lounges at the stadium is being done up to essentially be themed like an airport departure lounge, pilot seats for chairs etc etc... By the sounds of it, Corendon have made quite a major investment in us and want to be a firm part of this new vision.

For now this has all got to be a positive... If results on the pitch reflect the effort that's been going on behind the scenes, then international interest and overseas income streams are only going to become greater.

From what I've heard and seen, and also from the general vibe from others that have dropped bits they know, this genuinely seems like a renaissance for us.

Possibly yeah, I don't know how much reach his channels have, I know he owns TV8 in Turkey, but I couldn't tell you their viewing figures off the top of my head.

There's a reason I thought the rest of our business would be cheap. We're being linked to some names but until they come off I'll not be blowing my socks off just yet.

Between sponsorships, the loan, player sales, I think we've managed to do very well, but as some said from the start, the club made it clear Acun was our sole backer and he isn't minted.

Interested to see what the wage bill is when the accounts go in. It'll be a lot more than the KLP fee. We'll most likely post operating losses. Hence the FFP meeting.

As Toast said, there's no huge issue running the club like this.. So long as the players we sign are profitable. If we don't win promotion and a few players are busts it could be an issue, but if we win promotion, it's a very effective way to unlock huge windfalls.

Yeah I've said a few times the accounts will make for very interesting reading.

I think you're getting too stuck on the meeting with the EFL if I'm honest. I don't think it means what you're reading into it.

It either was relevant or Baz chucked it out as a red herring.

What do you think Seri is on? Tufan? , Oscar?

He also said there's no shortage of money.

Could be, but Acun must have some serious sales patter if he's pulled that off!

TV8 is just one of them. Estimated annual revenues of 75-100m euro. Then there's production companies in 7 other countries and the Turkish Netflix, which he owns.

He shouldn't have any problems raising finance.

No, but then I have to question why he'd need a loan then. Very bizarre. The only other reason I can think of is, if this is allowed, he took the loan out before he took on the club to avoid the FFP and hoped it wouldn't count towards FFP. That might explain why he tried to pay it back when funds became available.

I keep seeing people say if we sign Nwakaeme it'll be an incredible signing, why is that? Wikipedia says he's a winger who scores ~10 goals a season which seems pretty good, but is there more to it? I'm just curious why he seems to be so well-known and highly rated on here.

I didn't say it was irrelevant, I said you're reading more into it than it likely was. As Toast said, much more likely it was them checking in on our spending if the club was a leveraged purchase.
