The sponsorship could be one of those classic Man City type deals to give us extra FFP wiggle room.

They pay us an inflated sponsorship and Acun or his associates invest a little bit back into them off the books

Keano was only ever an injury away from the deal collapsing or at least not happening until January. I don't see how you can spend before you sell if you don't have the money to cover that eventuality.

This position is a key one for me. Less sexy than strikers though, innit?

Interesting. I wonder what that means for next year if we don't get to the PL. Acun is a great media personality, it means he's able to spin a good yarn, and that can get a lot of people to buy in. Signing players such as Seri then encourage sponsors who bring more money and more investment in the club and so on, but when things go poorly, players don't work out, etc. the downside isn't so great if he doesn't actually have the money behind him to support the club. People may call this a negative post but I've been saying similar since January when we were expecting big money signings and the extent of our business was signing Longman and Slater for relatively small fees and then a few loans. I have no issue with the club being run sustainably, but I worry if we get to a position where we're relying on player sales to prop us up as that's essentially where we were in the last few years under the Allams.

As I started by saying though, if he can encourage investors and sponsors to come in above and beyond what we have, then we increase revenue streams and become more sustainable, but the idea that a loan was taken out to buy us (contrary to some saying we were essentially debt free when the club was sold) concerns me a little.

Purchases will also be staged payments. Who's to say that Fenerbahce etc aren't only demanding 500k for Tufan and Ally up front, with further payments year on year? They have a good relationship with Acun so would potentially be happy to stagger payments in a way that helps Acun.

It was in the clubs official statement taken from the clubs Facebook page below (wasn't sure how to link it):

We are excited to announce Corendon Airlines as our new front-of-shirt sponsors in a club-record Championship sponsorship deal.

Ah I don't have Facebook. Though I take it to mean it's a club record deal for us, who are in the Championship. Wonder if it's just badly worded?

It doesn't explain how KLP covers several 20k pw plus contracts. As well as fees, however staged from the beginning and throughout their contracts.

I'm happy to accept that fees paid may well add up to 16 mil, as we're 11.5 of the way there already, but fees are not going to be the bulk of the investment in this new transfer policy, we'll be jumping from. Less then 10m to mid 20's wage bill overnight and be committed for 3 years if Acun's statement about planning for top10 budget turns out to be true.

KLP fee being reinvested will not be the majority of the outlay on current transfers. It might pay for the transfer fees though.

Maybe, but I think the more natural reading of it is that it's the biggest deal we've had in the Championship.

Anyway, if they are paying us over £10m over 3/4 years there must be more to the deal than we currently know about. Irrespective of the Turkish connections that level of deal for sponsoring an average Championship club makes no financial sense. As you say, they could have probably sponsored a lower prem team for that.

Acum and Tan don’t strike me as the type who would divulge their financial strategy to an ex hull city player.

i don’t doubt an ex player has told you this but it sounds like he is pissing in the wind

Is there any info on how much sponsors pay at other clubs?

I wonder if some of our potential winnings upon promotion will be invested into these firms? Kind of like:

"Hey, we're really gonna go for promotion, you could invest now at a low price, then be sponsoring a Premier League club and get global exposure, plus some money invested into your company if we pull this off"

Sold to them like that, it would seem like less of a risk and more like a decent chance of getting your company seen around the world.

Oh I don't think they will have divulged it to him. He will have been told by his mates that are still working at the top end of the club.

There's a reason I thought the rest of our business would be cheap. We're being linked to some names but until they come off I'll not be blowing my socks off just yet.

Between sponsorships, the loan, player sales, I think we've managed to do very well, but as some said from the start, the club made it clear Acun was our sole backer and he isn't minted.
