Jakirović said he wanted ‘speed and power’ in midfield during the press conference so I will be very, very surprised if Shelvey is offered a contract.

As soon as he sees him in a pre-season friendly, Jakirović will be thinking to himself ‘I can cover more ground than him and I’m pushing 50’. Jakirović was a no-nonsense defensive midfielder in his playing days.

id say mcburnie and frigdan deals are independent of each other

barry deal might be not doable with frigan, so i agree, id rather have frigan than barry

But regardless of how much we rate them personally, they're the club's top targets and it doesn't bode well if we miss out on them. There was talk of all three of them being likely, this week being a big one for two of the deals at least. But it always felt unlikely that we'd actually get these big deals done early in pre-season, it just never happens for us.

At one point it seemed like Barry was done and I said then that if true it would be a big lift for us, it'd show people we were serious and give other targets a nudge to join him here and give everyone a positive lift. But it hasn't happened, it sounds like it won't now, and the big week which was hyped but always felt unlikely hasn't materialised at all. It doesn't bode well.

Tbh he looks a prospect, just pointing out that scoring in a foreign league isn't really proven, and I'm still sceptical were paying 7m.
