Bielsa is much more similar to what we are trying to do now. They drew very few games because they went for the jugular and put teams to the sword when they were on top. I’m not even sure you can really call them inconsistent in his first season? They finished 3rd with no parachute payments, won 25 games drew 8.

They tailed off at the end of the season as players' fitness wasn't up to it for the full season. They also had an older squad. My point is it takes time to get the system sorted fully, and can't be expected to win promotion over night.

I thinks it’s very similar to Bielsa’s he just desperately needs players, it’s madness yes but everyone else is doing the same thing, with the right personnel it’ll be fine.

And that's why I think he'll lose his job quite quickly.

It'll take time to learn the system (that's assuming we get decent players in), and if we've lost a few and are in the bottom 5/6 in October, I think the decision will be made.

Baz said something similar on the podcast earlier. Basically hinted that maybe Acun has been let down by the people he's delegated work to. Very vague but interesting that he'd say it.

**** that, he's the owner and the buck stops with him. He's brought these people in, if they aren't right it's on him. On the plus side, he's also the one that can fix it.

That would make sense but City are selling Hamilton to Boro and Robertson to Cardiff so they're definitely open to moving some of their 'older' young players on.

Hamilton to Boro looks a real astute piece of business, £3.5m but with a buyback of £11m and he's been around their 1st team and played for them on a few occasions. So they appear to be pretty reasonable on the fees.

I have no issues with buy backs, I think they make a lot of sense, and whilst a few got annoyed about the Philogene fee, we got £8m for having him for a year so it was fantastic business.

I've said before, I'd like us to fill the squad out with players like Burns who have done well in L1 but they need to be permanent so we can invest the time in developing them.
You have quite literally no tangible clue what you're talking about in any practical sense, have you?

Don't you think we make recruitment 10x harder by trying to play a high level style/Pep style/whatever you want to call it?

I immediately thought of a good backup being someone in the mould of Alex Bruce, mature, dependable, reliable, cheapish, and happy to be a bit part player. But with this style, and LR's was the same too, it's a non-starter as you have to be technically very good as well. It limits your market massively.

It's like the keeper situation last year, there was so much reliance on them being good with the feet that we ended up getting one who wasn't good with his hands and it cost us a lot of goals.

It's not entertaining football either, LR's football wasn't entertaining and I've not enjoyed Tim's either.
Where did this 'football has to be entertaining' bollocks come from ? Are you saying City's back to the wall 1-0 away win at Leicester last season wasnt 'entertaining'? It was exactly what I follow my home town club to see. Us grinding out victory, avoiding defeat, upsetting the odds, scoring last minute winners but above all winning...no matter how they do it. If I wanted 'entertaining' I'd buy a ticket for New Theatre, depending what was on of course.
Without digging out the record books or old programmes one of the best 'entertaining' games I can recall is watching City hold Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge in the PL, I think we got into their half, was it twice? in the second half and could have snatched the winner both times. Chelsea sacked their manager before our lads got back on the team bus. I went straight back in the Chelsea pub where I'd been informed before the match that we'd get beat 6-0. That's entertainment.

Maybe a better way of phrasing it is - when did football need to have 5 goals to be entertaining. As you say, why can't a gritty 1-0 win be entertaining? Winning is entertaining. Being successful where you weren't expected to be is entertaining. Losing or struggling isn't entertaining. And that's basically the beginning and end of it.

The thing is, you could just as easily be describing Plymouth away from the back end of last season there as well. Holding on against bigger, better teams is one thing, grinding out a result against the football giants of the country is always going to be exciting. Holding on against, say Stoke at home and then losing it after creating **** all is an entirely other thing.

Creating good chances is entertaining. We need to be doing more of that. I think under Walter we will.

No, it's football. There isn't a club in the world, ever, no matter how big they are or how much money they have spent, that have won every game they play. You win some, you lose some, sometimes no-one wins, its football, sometimes it's down to the luck of the bounce, a bad referring decsion, a worldie goal, a poor display and equally a good one, it's what makes football the game it is. If you are lucky, or a neutral, which i am not, I am 100% bias towards Hull City, you might also feel as though you have been entertained. But for me, personally, if City win, no matter how they do it, I have been fully entertained and it makes my weekend.

What does any of that have to do with what I just wrote? <laugh>

I'll take any win we can get, but I've enjoyed games that we've lost as well. Nearly 70% possession mostly in your own half is not entertaining. You need to at least threaten their goal to be entertaining, win, lose or draw.

This is part of the problem I have with those who wax lyrical about Rosenior. He was happy for all the high quality players to come in with a short term view only, but constantly spoke of what we were building. If he was still here we’d be in the same position only difference is the current squad wouldn’t be learning a new system
You say he was happy but it was around this time that his and Acun's relationship broke down.

When Rosenior's clicked it was excellent. Look at performances such as Southampton away. Even the first half an hour against Millwall at home was brilliant with the one touch passing. It was just inconsistent because the squad was so young and learning. Look at Leeds in their first season under Bielsa for instance.
That Millwall performance epitomised our season in one game. And the reaction of their fans said it all.

Alfie is a lot better than he's given credit for. He's a good defender at this level, and he barely misses a game.

Young defenders make mistakes and it usually costs goals, if we're having an iffy season, it gets highlighted and they tend to get piled on. The criticism Greaves got was nuts. He was given loads of time and patience but you just don't get that with loans as they're gone at the end of the year.

i like Alfie he’s a good player, was just making a comment about the possibilities of a starting 11. I can’t see a highly rated youngster coming in to sit on the bench that’s all.
