Philogene is much harder to replace than Greaves for me. Greaves is the more developed player but 12 goals and 6 assists from a winger who missed a fair chunk of games is huge.

I think the opposite. Greaves makes Jones a better player, he also helps Jacob a lot. We essentially could do with two centre halves, unfortunately McLoughlin has regressed, probably because of Greaves. Now we find a Faye type that’s excellent but you also need project type. Burrows for instance at Peterborough will cost you 10 million plus. You aren’t gonna replace him in one hit, he’s too talented.

Replacing Jaden will be hard but not that hard in numbers. There’s currently 7 in the league with greater numbers as a winger. Zaroury could do those numbers if firing and fit. I could name 9-10 that could possibly do it, not so easy with Greaves.

Yeah, but if they **** up play-offs again I can see them having to sell some of those players to a Championship or even Premier League club. Any of Poku, Edwards and Burrows would improve us. I’d rather us sign Burrows over Giles permanently, for example. Poku and Edwards wouldn’t be cheap by any stretch but would still cost a fraction of what we’d get for Philogene and Greaves.

One name I’ve thought about regarding a potential Greaves replacement, who can also play left-back, is Anselmo MacNulty at PEC Zwolle. Had a good season in Eredivisie by all accounts, is only 21-years-old, left-footed modern centre-half, capped by Ireland u21s and would be a cheaper option to Cashin, Edwards or Clarke-Salter as a left-sided centre-half.

But negotiating with DMac is as bad as Daniel Levy, he knows there's plenty of interest so he asks for daft money.

I saw a compilation on Twitter of Hughes at Wigan and the lads looks a PL CB in the making. Whether he's ready to immediately step up is another question but I can't see us going for Cashin or Edwards due to price.

Hughes is also good, yeah.

Also don’t forget young centre half takes 2/3 years of nurturing. Maguire did and Greaves did as well.

It's easier to replace a centre half than a forward, there are always a few older ones coming down from the PL that you can get reasonably enough. Chambers would be a Rolls Royce at this level.

Not sure about that, Branthwaite, Tarkowski ,Ben Mee, Michael Keane at one stage all developed really well under him. He’s direct yes but he’s an incredible penalty box defender which really suits playing under Dyche

It's just some of the rare skills he has, I can't imagine he'd be using under Dyche. The way he can play out, get forward, and defend insanely high in our man-for-man system. I'd imagine Dyche would want him to play a more basic game than that: stay in a flat back line, and not do anything too fancy. I think it'd be a shame and I think he's capable of more.

What about Souttar at Leicester? Not sure how much they'd want for him though but with their FFP pressures they might have a bit of a firesale.

Southport is very posh...Loads of money.. Frequented by the likes of Stevie G and Sir Kenneth and loads of ballers....Its like Hornsea on steroids...

Used to work with a Chelsea fanatic, used to go all over with them in their Div 2 days, pitch shareholder etc. I asked him why he supported Chelsea when his older brother was a City fan, used to on away trips with us when we were lucky to have 50 fans there some weeks. He said he started because when we played Chelsea in 1966 he said before setting off for the replay his brother said we will beat this lot. I am so sure that if we we don’t I’ll give you ten bob. Ten bob was a fair wedge for someone about 10 years of age. I told him I wish it had happened in the previous round. He asked why and said because he would now be sat in the canteen telling us what Southport had done and travelling to some very different grounds.

The Premier League site shows - The summer window will open on Wednesday 14 June and will close at 23:00 BST on Friday 1 September - I assume ours will match (unless we by some miracle get promoted, in which case it will definitely match).

****ing hell, it's going to be a long summer. Just hope the weather agrees.

I wonder if we'll see the replacements in before greaves and/or philo go (hopefully neither)

Don't want teams knowing we've got loads of cash ala West Ham and Rice.

We've been reasonably open about FFP problems and whilst its true it also stops teams thinking that just because Acun's as excitable as a spaniel in spring they can stick another 20% on top!
