I wonder if there’s any possibility we keep Greaves and Philogene for one last season?

How does it benefit us and the player?

Things are always possible, it's just an extremely small chance

True. Where Hull is is indeed north of the Humber.

We keep the core of the team to get promoted next season, the benefit for Greaves is playing in the prem with his hometown club

Without the money to reinvest, there's no chance of promotion. We wouldn't be able to sign Delap or Morton, and it would be another summer of penny-pinching and relying on loans

And the players aren't turning down huge PL money.

Selling players is a key part of being successful at this level so I don't know why there's a resistance to seeing players go

I don't think it's a resistance, I just think people want to see our best players stay with us as any fan would really..... Unfortunately the real world isn't built on sentiment

It's just football sadly. I can't begrudge either of the lads if they do move on. Greaves has been first class and he's taken a lot of unnecessary criticism over the years, I hope he plays for England. Philogene has improved, grafted consistently and had a top season for us.

It's not like the Ehab days where the money was going to buy him a new Lambo, we know it will all be reinvested back into the club.

Id rather sell Philogene and keep Greaves. I think it'll be easier to replace him than Greaves who is more important for us in my opinion.

It’s not just sentiment (although there is a lot) but how will we ever get promoted if we have to sell our best players?

While greaves has the much higher cieling
Centre backs are easier to replace in the championship than good attackers

I have a sense that Matty Jacob could be a viable replacement for Greaves next season. Good in the air, strong tackles, can play a bit.

Having a good idea who we will probably lose during the summer is partly why I feel missing out this season ( if we do ) is such a massive missed opportunity...

He's a decent back up, but if we're serious about challenging then we need a better first choice

Given he’s never been a centre back, I doubt it

I maintain Callum Doyle is the best like for like replacement for Greaves. He’s left footed, good on the ball, quick. Man City might look for a prem loan but he’d be top of my list
