Probably because we started the season quite well under Rosenior so there wasn't a period of bedding into the system and players? We also beat Leicester after something like 6 games so we knew we could play well against the best in the division quite quickly. People also aren't saying 'Let's see how we look against the top 6' they're saying teams better than three of the bottom 5 (at the time) teams. Now who's shifting the goalposts? As I've said, Norwich is the perfect test as they're in similar form to us, with a new manager just like us, and will be a good litmus test. Who said he should be sacked after 5 games?
Nah he looked rubbish, and most on here were saying it, Walter was talking about needing another keeper in the building, and Acun brought two first choice keepers in because of how weak Pandur looked. His positioning and efforts for a number of goals in game after game was incredibly worrying. There's no need to re-write history. You can acknowledge he's looked brilliant ever since the real stuff started while also acknowledging that there were concerns over pre-season.
Ben and Im sure that was before the 5 games. Also just listened to baz's mini poor me but, jesus grow a pair, you seriously can't be that thin skinned, if you're going to jump on a managers style and question it all etc after such a short time and make it clear your nose was put out of joint and you was a bit embarrassed by Tim in that presser, then be big enough and thick skinned enough to take the flack that comes with the things you post. Nobody ( that I've seen so can't be sure ) has said Tim doesn't like you or you don't like Tim FFS
I mean we can play word games all you want, but saying he had his nose put out of joint by Walter and that he was being negative as a result and not because there were things to be negative about certainly comes across as suggesting he has a personal issue with Walter, but each to their own.
Imo he didn't look rubbish, but he did look like a GK low on confidence and under a bit of pressure ( which wasn't his fault but what acun did heaped pressure on him ). He's grown in confidence, taken the shirt and made it his own. He's a very very good keeper and he's showing now thriving and showing it
But he's looked better now with more pressure on him (in the form of Racioppi and Rushworth) and he's said that himself, so I don't think it was the pressure that was the issue. I think he just had a poor pre-season as that was his first run of games in the team since moving here really. Which also shows why LR was right not to throw him in cold last season. He's grown into the role and grown more confident but I don't think we need to be re-writing the narrative that it was only a select few who doubted him in pre-season when Walter and Acun clearly did too. As Burnsy said, Acun clearly 'had a wobble' in pre-season when it came to Pandur.
If that's the way you want to twist it then crack on. Meanwhile grown ups in the real world can understand that just because you don't agree with someone on something or you have you nosie put out doesn't automatically mean you don't like someone. Baz just needs to be a bit more thick skinned and don't let emotions control things
What does 'having your nose out of joint' mean other than being annoyed/upset at someone? Come on mate, no one's twisting anything other than you. It's fine, we can move on. I just found it funny that Baz seemed to be very clearly calling out something he'd read on here, it's rare that it happens. Just laugh it off and move on since we're now all on the same page and happy with the progress being made.
I'm not re-writing any narrative and just because my opinion differs to yours doesn't mean I am. The way acun went about things during that q&a put him massively under the microscope and his performances needed to be nothing less then 100% and unfortunately during pre season they weren't and people piled on. But he wasn't "rubbish" at all
Come on mate.... I never said he wasn't annoyed/upset at someone, infact that's exactly what I said he was. I just said that it doesn't automatically mean you don't like someone. I've been upset and or annoyed at or with plenty of people in my life before, but it doesn't mean I don't like them
I think there was maybe two or three on here, none of whom I've seen 'disappear' as some are suggesting, Ben for instance is still happy to acknowledge Walter's improvements but expressing his continued skepticism of whether we really have turned a corner against better teams, but not 'literally hundreds'. I think most, like myself, said if we lose to Stoke and Cardiff we wanted him gone. I think when pushed by Chazz on how many games I was giving him I said I'd make a call after the Norwich game as that was an International Break. Can't recall too many definitely saying they wanted him out after Sheff Utd but I'll take your word for it.
Yeah sorry I didn’t mean 100’s on here but across all the platforms combined. If you look back at the Sheffield thread there was definitely a few comments that outright said get him gone and a few that meant it but didn’t say it directly. Even you were liking some of Cheshire Ben’s ridiculous posts and you’ve been unusually quiet since.
I've been quiet? Blimey, not sure many would agree with that. I liked his posts because I was also feeling frustrated with how we'd started, but I can pull up my exact quote on how many games I'd give him before wanting him gone if you'd like!
I think you made your position clear with your comments and likes but if you’d like to repent your sins and rejoin the side of positivity and common sense you’ll be welcomed with open arms, Ben can be a one man gang we all have a wobble at some point
Yep I was quite confident he'd be gone, as a number were (for instance I think Howden said similar, that he thought he didn't have much time left), that didn't mean we wanted him gone after Sheff Utd! Happy to jump on the positive train if we get a result/positive performance against Norwich. For the time being I'm still skeptical about us replicating our style against better sides, and I have a concern that if we go a goal down and sides sit back we'll struggle to get back into it, but let's see.
If you look closely at that screenshot, GFAW is saying we can revisit the discussion in a 'couple of months' and I said I thought he'd be gone in 'a couple of months'. That suggests a bit more time than an immediate sacking.
