What game has he missed being available for or training has he missed because of the delayed announcement from yesterday to today?
I assume I wasn’t clear as you are missing my point.

Why doesn’t a simple

“Charlie Hughes has joined us from Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee” suffice”

It take time to put the animated stuff together when you could post the sentence in less than a minute.

Pinning our hopes on a young CB from League 1 - is that where we are now? He might be outstanding, but he also might struggle in the Championship against much better strikers and teams

I haven't missed the point. I don't think you realise how quick the animated graphics are to do.. the reason it would have been delayed from yesterday to today would have been to do a photo shoot and initial interview. In the mean time he was already registered and training with the team so it has zero impact.

I don't understand the issue, all this stuff will be worked on in advance and when they get the green light to post it.

If it was a sentence it would've been posted at exactly the same time.

It worked for us 10 years back when we took a punt on a young CB called Harry Maguire. Maybe give him a chance eh?

Exactly how I see it.
Maybe hoping for too much for him to be our next Harry Maguire, but it could well be a signing in that same mould so to speak.
"Hughes is a commanding ball-playing centre-back, who can also play in midfield. He is extremely comfortable in possession with an exceptional passing range. Strong in defence and exhibits strong leadership qualities, having captained the side on several occasions from 19 years old and for most of the 23/24 season".
Only 21 this coming October. 4 U20 caps.
As with Maguire, might take a bit of time to settle in .... or maybe slots straight in - who knows, TWT. But could be a massive (hughe) signing for us, fingers crossed.

With respect, we didn't pin our hopes on a young Harry Maguire, he had a very slow start to his Hull City career and, ironically, went out on loan to Wigan as he couldn't get into the team.

I think we are pinning our hopes on Hughes, Macca doesn't look up to it and we've looked very fragile at the back. I have faith Hughes will do the business though

I guess that would explain the low fee though. With no parachute payments that is surely the pond we're fishing in.

He had played 20 times in the Championship and I would say he is very similar in style and career projection to Greavesy. Probably ahead of where Greavesy was before his Championship break out season.
