Despite Klopp going they’ve still got a lot of the back room team so I would imagine a relationship is there. They’ll have been impressed with how we’ve helped Morton and Fabio. Especially the latter given his decent preseason
The rate that him that they didn't take him on their pre season tour. They do have a lot of good young players but there's other ways to do it. A high sell on clause or even matching rights would all give them control over the player. This just seems like a waste of a loan spot
I don't get this "waste of a loan spot" thing. Are loan spots really that valuable? Using one on loaning a player seems like a pretty appropriate use to me. I can understand not rating a player or a particular deal, but I just can't imagine a scenario where we're desperate to loan someone but have run out of loan spaces.
We genuinely cant determine this until we've seen the lad play. He played 43 times for Stevenage who were good last year.
He’s coached to have a high volume of touches which is perfect given the level of responsibility placed on the players in this system. Centre back/centre midfielder seems perfect
People can't shout for players for weeks then we do start getting some complain it's a waste of a loan.
Everyone has been saying the loan market will be **** this year with players available who have had no first team experience. We use a loan spot on someone with lots of first team experience, last season no less, at the same level as Hughes who we are trying to sign for £5m.. and it's a waste of a loan spot. Our fanbase sometimes..
Was saying how little there was out there and now we are signing someone who fits his bill of a good loan signing it doesn’t make sense
No, I've mentioned a lack of championship experience as well. We look to have filled 3 loan spots, they've played a combined 211 minutes at this level. One's facing a doping ban, another has played 3 games in senior football and granted Burns has had a good year in L1 but he'll come in as a backup CB. It just seems odd when we need 2 strikers and at least 2 wingers to fill up 3/5 loan spots. It reeks of panic and desperation and after selling players for £30m+ I don't think it's unfair to have expected a lot better. Too many people seem happy to just be signing players
We've just signed some U21 guy. I guess all those graduates to the first team has made us need U21 reinforcements too. Its good to see someone sign though. Hopefully it translates to the first team too soon.
And you seem happy to just moan and complain about everything and anything. You complained yesterday there wasn't any loans with first team experience and today we are linked with one who has and you moan at that.....just have a day off FFS
We are in the midst of needing to panic sign. It's happened we just deal with it. We took way too much time. Hopefully after these early August panic signings we spend some dough later in the month. We'll just see what happens
Some of these deals loans or permanent will not just be panic buys Clubs have been on pre-season tours and even if some younger one's never went they would still not have been completed incase the Clubs suffered injuries whilst on tour.
I dont think after what we did with Delap Man City would send us a dud... in fact, I expect we might get another form the same source...
You literally complained and moaned every time we dropped points last season. I've just kept saying you want players with Championship experience, Tan and Tim have said the same and so much bullshit has been spoken about the reason for the slow signings is because of the Euros/Pre Season tours but nothing adds up. It's a big jump up in quality and there's usually a decent period of adaptation. We saw it with Coyle, Greaves, Alfie etc, it took them probably 12 months+ to get used to the level. Look at Alfie, he played under Steve Evans at Gillingham, did very well and as with Burns ended up playing in midfield. But he had a year with us in L1 before stepping up to the Championship and he still had a pretty ropey 12-18 months at this level.
