Hull City are expected to complete their fourth summer signing early this week after agreeing a deal to sign defender Finley Burns from Manchester City.
Burns, a 6ft 5 tall central defender, is set to join the Championship club on loan for the duration of the new season and could be in Tim Walter's squad to face Bristol City on the opening weekend.
The 21-year-old centre-back spent last season on loan in League One with Stevenage and impressed, playing 43 times in league and cup for the Broadhall Way club as they just missed out on a spot in the play-offs.
The reigning Premier League champions paid £175,000 to sign him from Southend United at the age of just 13 back in 2017 with the Times claiming that fee could eventually rise to £250,000, a sign of how much they rated him and his potential.
Earlier in his career, the London-born youngster had a spell with Swansea City where he played three times in the Championship having played just once for Manchester City's first team under Pep Guardiola in a convincing cup win over Wycombe Wanderers, and has played for England from Under-15 through to Under-20 level.
City have been desperate for central defensive cover this summer having seen Jacob Greaves leave the club for Ipswich Town, leaving Tim Walter with just Alfie Jones and Sean McLoughlin as senior players. Andy Smith and Stan Ashbee are the two youngsters but have limited experience.
McLoughlin could yet leave the MKM Stadium before the transfer window closes at 11pm on August 30, with clubs interested in the Republic of Ireland international, though Wigan Athletic star Charlie Hughes remains a player City have a strong interest in, but have so far been unable to agree a fee with the DW Stadium club.
It’s funny how they list Smith as inexperienced in comparison when he has double the amount of senior experience as him

Good. Seems to me like a very good loan signing. Similar to Delap, he's cut his teeth elsewhere last season and hopefully we reap the benefit. We desperately need players, we desperately need at least 1 CB and we desperately need height.
