Greaves should make the step. Philogene and Delap are punts but I feel in your system should flourish in certain games. If one out of the 3 hits you’ve done good business imo
I'd have little doubt about Philogene and Delap making it in the PL and contributing from the off.
Their development continued nicely with us and will continue.
3 good, clever signings by Ipswich imo, all 3 should fit very well into their system.
p.s. ungrateful sod.

I’m not being disparaging to you but even you’ll agree that you should have made the playoffs with the quality you have The silver lining is that you’ll bank 35 Million at least if this all goes ahead.

Mate. You know as well as any sometimes the individual players aren’t reflected by the league position of their team.

So you don't think the club is in a better position now than under the Allams?
Is there any scenario you can realistically think of where Ehab would have invested in much in the Team to get us to finish seventh?

Why would anyone count McCann as a Manager under their reign when they let him go immediately after acquisition?

As for signings... who exactly are you expecting us to sign on the budgets we are limited to?
With the exceptions of PL teams coming down with parachute payments, all championship signings of low cost players are usually punts, and all have their best academy products plundered when teams with larger budgets come knocking.

On August 31st, your summarisation that we have a worse squad than the one that got promoted from League One will look brainless.

if your bar for measurement is “better than under the Allams” you’re setting a mighty low bar

Giles and Seri have both flown out with the squad, so nothing imminent happening - same goes for Lokilo and Longman.

Oscar is very good on the ball in terms of carrying and keeping possession. His first touch was a bit off, but to be fair that season you could say that about a lot of them, it seemed we had boots made of silly putty at times. Either way, we lamented the lack of a finisher in the box last season and now we've got one in the squad again. Good move in my opinion.

Maybe it’s more to make the numbers, or the friendlies will be 5 a side

If there were imminent deals we'd not risk taking them out there and potentially getting injured for the sake of friendlies. We'd use academy players

Yeah friendlies are for experimenting. Pre season last year was pretty meh aside from the Galatasaray game:

Galatasaray 3 - 4 Hull City

Hatayspor 1 - 1 Hull City

Grimsby Town 1 - 2 Hull City

Hull City 1 - 0 Barnsley

Bradford City 1 - 1 Hull City

Scunthorpe United 1 - 1 Hull City

Hull City 1 -1 Nantes

IIRC we scraped past Grimsby and Barnsley and then played like **** against Bradford and Scunny. And people were losing their **** then as well.

Everyone with any realism knew Greaves and Philo weren't sticking around, we're getting good money and an decent sell on % so all in all it's a decent deal..... People honestly just need to relax, let things happen and stop wetting the bed FFS
I do remember a few people telling us how delusional it was to imagine Greaves would go for a lot of money, they seem strangely silent now ...

It's a good job Greaves didn't want to move last summer though or he'd have gone for 5 million to Boro.. apparently :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Well ... we'll certainly be trimming the wage bill at least, but I bloody hope they aren't relying on the likes of Longman and Lokillo to be the forefront of our season or its gonna be one long season. I'm currently living in the hope that Tim has identified his targets and the 'brain team' are hard at work to ensure they're on their way. As for Greaves and Philo I wish them the best, and tbh I love the way Ipswich attacked the division last year, I'm looking forward to seeing how they ruffle some feathers in the big league.
I'm not at the stage of panic yet, and welcome Oscar back, but we need a lot more in through the door, Mclaughlin gives me the heebie jeebies when on the ball, so I'd like to see a ball playing cb in as quick as possible.
Come on Acun, forget the hols, let's get us ready for the off !

It doesn't mean that information can't be taken from them, there were patterns within those games that followed on from the previous season and continued into the new season that were called out.

On the other hand, one of the best preseasons was under Hateley. He declared that we had set our standards and must maintain them. Then we played the first match of the new season at Mansfield…

Absolutely and it was all about the lack of finishing, but my point is that the exact same things that were said then are being said now before we've even played our first friendly. People were saying that we had a dodgy keeper, Tetteh was useless, Macca was making mistakes etc. We actually had a good season last year by all accounts; the transfers were great, the style of football while not pleasing on the eye for some did produce some fantastic plays and while we fell short of the playoffs, the fact that we were even in the race to start with is an impressive fact that many fans seem to overlook. To go from 15th to 7th in one season is nothing to be baulked at.

We need to stop this "instant gratification" attitude that's become endemic among our fans, we need to be patient and have some trust in what the club is doing. We can't expect to magically see amazing football when we've got a new manager, a whole new coaching staff, a brand new playing style and what will be a raft of new players coming in.

That's not to excuse any poor results mind, because I what I would expect is that any players coming in should be ready to play in the Championship and be effective, but the team's performance as a whole at the start of the season should be taken in the context of events this Summer.

Loan players are the only way of bringing in EPL quality without having to pay large transfer fees, which we could never afford. When you don't have parachute payments then, this is the best way to get the quality you need to compete.

But Delap and Morton weren't PL quality, they were kids who hadn't ripped up any trees in the Championship.

Yeah exactly, our pre seasons aren't usually an indicator of what's to come. This was prior to our first ever PL season, back in the halcyon days of the old 606.

North Ferriby United 0 - 4 Hull City

Winterton Rangers 0 - 4 Hull City

KV Oostende 1 - 1 Hull City

Chesterfield 0 - 3 Hull City

Crewe Alexandra 4 - 0 Hull City

Oldham 1 - Hull City 1

Hearts 1 - 0 Hull City

Hull City 0 -1 Osasuna
