There are no issues with the lack of signings as it's still very early but the club feels like it's been chaos for the last few weeks and there's no semblance of a structured plan and that's where the concern is especially when it's combined with our track record in recruitment
I think until you see what signings roll through the door we’ll know if there was a plan or not.

Signing a striker first along with a left back suggests somewhat of one considering we have neither, it’s the bare minimum as of right now yes BUT we are keeping our cards close to our chest so we can’t complain really if every target was out there public and it resembled a plan would people be happier?

Thought it was a right back ?

So you don't think the club is in a better position now than under the Allams?
Is there any scenario you can realistically think of where Ehab would have invested in much in the Team to get us to finish seventh?

Why would anyone count McCann as a Manager under their reign when they let him go immediately after acquisition?

As for signings... who exactly are you expecting us to sign on the budgets we are limited to?
With the exceptions of PL teams coming down with parachute payments, all championship signings of low cost players are usually punts, and all have their best academy products plundered when teams with larger budgets come knocking.

On August 31st, your summarisation that we have a worse squad than the one that got promoted from League One will look brainless.

I didn’t say the club was in a worse position, I said the current squad is. I also didn’t say it would be worse at the end of the transfer window. You’re arguing against points I didn’t make.

I've seem a few people posting along the lines of I'm hoping Walter has identified his targets and the "brain team" are working on getting them in.

That isn't how it works is it? I thought thought Walter said I need to fill these positions and I'll be playing this way and the brain team identify the targets with Walter getting the final say.

Oscar is very good on the ball in terms of carrying and keeping possession. His first touch was a bit off, but to be fair that season you could say that about a lot of them, it seemed we had boots made of silly putty at times. Either way, we lamented the lack of a finisher in the box last season and now we've got one in the squad again. Good move in my opinion.
Agree with this ST... at one point we were talking potential telephone numbers for Oscar and like you I thought his game brought a lot to the team. Another surprise might just be Xavier Simons too... you could even add Longman but I think likely they'll take the money. Im excited about who might come here.

What would honestly constitute a 'semblance of a structured plan' in your eyes? A PowerPoint presentation made available to the public? A step by step guide on our shortlist and the order in which we're pursuing the targets? Also, why do you get the impression you should be made privy to it?

Walter started on 1st July... If we'd signed players before then Acun would be choosing the team again, no doubt.

You've essentially nailed it with your first sentence. The club 'feels' like it's been chaos... That's all this is. Feelings. Barely anyone on here has any idea how chaotic or carefree or to what level of long term plan the club is working to, yet they're finding a 2, making another 2 up, and coming up with 73. Arses are twitching because if the season started today, we'd rightly be ****ed... But it doesn't start today. There's time yet and hard work will be going in to make sure we're as competitive as possible. There is literally no evidence to the contrary right now.

It looks like there's maybe some funny business about to take place. Suggestions are they may take him to loan out or to sell to Ipswich themselves with the clauses they would like inserted. Also could just be in the hope of driving the price up to increase the share of sell on but I doubt a bidding war is going to take place.

I think Simons needs game time, he’s just spent a season injured at Fleetwood and when their manager changed he didn’t get in their squad. It’s sensible to take him on the trip to look at him properly and see if Walter thinks he has something to offer.

With Longman, he’s a handy squad option. He’s pretty good at pressing so he might bring something that TW thinks will help. If Millwall are desperate to bring him back, and they have the same ambitions as us, that suggests he’s capable of being in our squad.

I'm more sceptical about Longman but clean slate and all that. Walter could turn him into a player that excels and is less frustrating to watch. If Rosenior managed it for some of the squad then Walter could do it for some of the squad...

Can someone just clarify definitively... I was under the impression that Villa could only activate the clause if we were both in the Premiership...?

Their clause was a 15 million buy back if we were in the same league. They also have the right to match the highest bidder regardless. They're just throwing their hat into the ring is all. Possibly to loan back out. Or purchase him now, immediately sell him and insert their own sell on clause so we'd get nothing if he went somewhere in a couple of years for 40 odd million say. In theory they could buy him, sell him to Ipswich for the same price and then Villa get the sell on clause when Ipswich sell him on... Don't know if that's kosher or not.
