It was only a loan for a year wasnt it. His head was turned when he came back off injury, we won’t be seeing him again in a City shirt.
Philogene never really gave a toss about City. I think that’s pretty obvious now. I won’t begrudge him because loyalty in football now is so far removed from the game on both the player and club’s sides but it’s clear he played primarily for himself. Incredibly talented player but last season just felt like he was here on loan.
Yeah, I can see the comparison between Grosicki and Philogene. It’s easy to look too much into things but his body language just suggested he saw us as a stepping stone and nothing more. I can’t fault his talent or even his work-rate tracking back but it all seemed like he was playing for himself, not the team or club as a collective. Philogene strikes me as the sort of player who would be more happy if he got a goal and an assist in a 3-2 loss than getting no goals or assists in a 1-0 win. Reminds me of Ronaldo hogging free-kicks from ridiculous angles against Slovenia rather than letting someone else whip a ball into the box.
That’s exactly right, and to be fair, there’s nothing wrong with that. He thought he should be getting playing time with Villa and is a key part of the England U21’s, why would he want to play for us in the Championship long term? We brought him in to help us get promoted and/or sell him on for a profit, shame the first one didn’t work out but looks like the second one will!
Relax, I don't think the 2m quote was genuine, it was an exaggeration to emphasise the robbery on Tufan. I'm still amazed how many take Amin literally.
Which is fine. We're going to make a lot of money out of it. If we could make 10-15m out of Delap's loan we'd be pretty happy too.
I aren’t too bothered by Philo, he came he wore the shirt he played some blinders for us and I enjoyed watching him. He has zero ties to us and is going to make us a lot of money, all parties win.
