Tufan is worth whatever a team is willing to pay for him, like any other player. We can value our players at whatever we want but it doesn’t mean that’s what we will get because there are more factors than just the selling club’s valuation. If he wasn’t pushing for that move and it was some random EFL club like Boro or WBA, we wouldn’t have accepted £2m.

He wanted to go home after Trabzon made that offer, we weren’t going to stand in his way and the money we got was decent fare. Abdush’s deal also played a part; I think he’s far more talented than Ozan and has the potential to make us a big windfall down the line. It might also be that we are buying somebody else from them and that was factored in.

I agree with all of that. Omur is the most talented players ever signed so far under Acun I reckon.

Philogene never really gave a toss about City. I think that’s pretty obvious now. I won’t begrudge him because loyalty in football now is so far removed from the game on both the player and club’s sides but it’s clear he played primarily for himself.

Incredibly talented player but last season just felt like he was here on loan.

I always thought he was like turbo, from the minute he arrived all you heard was him leaving

Yeah, I can see the comparison between Grosicki and Philogene.

It’s easy to look too much into things but his body language just suggested he saw us as a stepping stone and nothing more. I can’t fault his talent or even his work-rate tracking back but it all seemed like he was playing for himself, not the team or club as a collective.

Philogene strikes me as the sort of player who would be more happy if he got a goal and an assist in a 3-2 loss than getting no goals or assists in a 1-0 win. Reminds me of Ronaldo hogging free-kicks from ridiculous angles against Slovenia rather than letting someone else whip a ball into the box.

That’s exactly right, and to be fair, there’s nothing wrong with that. He thought he should be getting playing time with Villa and is a key part of the England U21’s, why would he want to play for us in the Championship long term?

We brought him in to help us get promoted and/or sell him on for a profit, shame the first one didn’t work out but looks like the second one will!

Which is fine. We're going to make a lot of money out of it. If we could make 10-15m out of Delap's loan we'd be pretty happy too.
