I could have sworn we had an option to buy Wilks at the end of the season... Even if Barnsley want him back after his loan ends, cant we use our option to sign him and Barnsley can do **** all about it?

That would mean negotiating wages not knowing which league we will be in next season.

Also a risk to Wilks that he will end up in League 1. Staying on loan would have been risk free for him. Keep us up, get bought and a championship wage. Fail, find somewhere else.

Wilks had no option, he wanted to stay and play, but Barnsley wouldn't let him.

Similar issues at all levels...

AFC Bournemouth @afcbournemouth
We can also confirm that Ryan Fraser has declined to sign a short-term contract extension.

A blow for a team currently in the bottom three, he's made 27 appearances for them this season and played pretty much every game last season.

Those ****ing Allam ****s again just pay up you greedy ****s ffs

They need to review how contracts are written in the future to cover such events like this. So rather than have a final date of expiry. Perhaps the term should be until a season has been completed. Better protects clubs.
