Pennington did a good job when he came in at RB.... for me, Wilks will not be a miss at all...

We can all crow and say were in trouble, but I guarantee almost every teams forum will be saying much the same... wherever we end up next year we have the two lads at Cheltenham to come back to bolster the back four and a half decent squad which needs one or two additions... and a new manager might help a lot...

... lets remember, some clubs will be very very very close to the edge financially after the last 3 months and we are probably now a more attractive proposition for a sale than before lockdown.
Yes, now buyers may be willing to pay £15m rather than £10m but the Allam's will still want £50m.

Which is worrying as neither of them were on more than £10k a week. We're already pitching well below the average wage in the Championship, we're now offering wages around the average League 1 salary.

I liked Irvine and Lichaj, the former was a decent acquisition and was a solid player. Lichaj lacked pace, but he was reliable. Both will be missed.
You know that how?

Because they were signed in the Championship, I'm sure I read that when we came down, we put a self imposed salary cap on ourselves of £10k a week in order to help stablise the wages. Lichaj was signed under Adkins the season after and at 30 years old, the balance of probability suggests he wouldn't have been offered a five figure weekly wage.

No, how have you managed to glean that from what I said? If we imposed a salary cap of £10k, why would we offer an ageing RB from a fellow Championship club more than what we said we would spend? Or, for that matter, a CM from Burton Albion?

I mean if you've a copy of the latest Footy Manager with an update, boot it up and have a look, the clubs share their contract details with SI so it'll be on there.

The 10k ( alleged ) cap was the start of this season I think

Ah well if so I may well be wide of the mark, though it might have been that the information came out this season but we've been doing it for a while. Looking at our incomings, I can't see any that would demand anything like £10k, but then I suppose if we're trying to entice players, we're capable of anything.

I don't know if I'm reading this right but as far as I can tell...we will lose 10 first team players in total by the end of the season.including loans..shocking

Tbf sad to see Lichaj go .. for the most part he was steady .. afraid I never have rated Irvine .. too much like a prancing pony and there's only room for one manbun in our team. I was excited to see what Maddison could do .. but I'm still waiting .. Kingsley IS the donkey from Shrek .. Wilks I dare say could be a player once fit .. at least he scored a couple and may come back to us after the season is done. But you could have Messi and Ronaldo in the team but if the manager plays stupid tactics that dont fit their style they'd be nulified. I just hope during this break its given McCann time to reassess his naive tactics .. grind out some points and get safety in the bag .. play a system to suit what we have and protect against our weaknesses.

I could have sworn we had an option to buy Wilks at the end of the season... Even if Barnsley want him back after his loan ends, cant we use our option to sign him and Barnsley can do **** all about it?

Allams probably had no intention of signing him; just stringing McCann along. We were never going to sign Maddison.
Was already concerned about where our goals will come from; now even more so.
