Lichaj is awful as is irvine. Obviously weren't signing for next season and this is why the season should be voided players refusing to play for their teams.
regardless of which league we're going to be in next year, it's going to be a right fkin slog again isn't it
I'd have offered him a new 2-year deal. We need his experience in the team, now and going forwards. If we stayed up, he's good enough to cover across the entire back-four if anyone is out injured (very likely in our case) and if we went down he's exactly what we'd need - an old head on the field. I agree, if we're to improve long-term we should probably be looking to bring in a new younger right-back, but that doesn't mean he no longer adds value to the squad.
Allams 'Genius Business Plan': Sell your best players Release the rest Bring in inferior or inexperienced talent Repeat each transfer window. And they wonder why no ****er thinks the club is worth anything? ****. Them.
I agree with all of this. My fear is that will play Mackenzie at RB ahead of Pennington, or Pennington will be needed as a CB, as although I really hope the lad comes good I remain unconvinced by Mackenzie. Personally think Irvine has been undeservedly holding down a place all season.
I can't get my head around allowing first team players to leave for free. I understand they want to keep on top of wages, but the club has waved goodbye to so many players in recent years that they could have got some money for. It's baffling.
Stewart most likely I would have thought, or Burke. Having said that, McCann will probably give it to Long!
Bad to lose these players no doubt. There will be a few injuries when we start up again and the squad looks paper thin. Was optimistic we could make it but there is a dent in that now. **** to see our captain and vice jump ship. I couldn’t see Ash doing that at this stage. Surely we could have reached some type of short term agreement. That’s always amazed me. I would have given anything to turn out for one game as a pro and yet you have these guys who don’t appear to give a **** about the club and the fans.
Only we could release our captain and vice captain. Honeyman was captain at Sunderland, maybe him. Though De Wijs and Burke respectively would make the best Captain/VC combo.
We have to remember that these last 9 games will be played with a maximum of five substitutions allowed per match. With the weather getting warmer this is going to have an effect on player performance, so every fixture becomes a 16 player game. Playing up to 3 games per week is inevitably going to lead to injuries, so reducing the squad size is reducing McCann's options. I hope the lads come out fighting and up for the battle but I have my concerns.
