We don't need a lb for back up, Shaw, Targett and Clyne can all play there.
Gk
Cb
Winger
Striker at least.

Being reported that RVP wants out this summer.

Italian press saying Juve will try to sign him. If successful, they will allow Osvaldo to return to Southampton.

I agree, and Stocker is a Winger primarily all im saying is he's versatile enough that he can cover should it be required. He's only 24 but he's got alot of experience across all levels including CL, EL and International football. He would provide an attacking and counter threat and give us more freedom to move and alter our AM should we be struggling in a game

Couldn't agree more. I posted earlier that i would us like to sign Adrian Ramos from Hertha and if we could sign someone like Valentine Stocker from FC Basel to play as a left winger or slip into LB should Shaw be unavailable (Provided he's still with us obviously). Basel apparently want 6m for him which doesnt seem unreasonable.

Also another CB, Yoshida proved adequate but hardly overwhelming during his spell recently and i think we could use another quality CB as cover/competition.

I have been mentioning Stocker for two seasons. I really like the look of him and think her fit in very well.

£6m for Stocker would be practically robbery. If that's how much he'll go for we would be mad not to be bidding.

Stocker has accepted Schalke's offer of a four-year contract worth €2 million (£1.7m) per year but Basel's asking price of €6m (£5.1m), plus bonuses, remains a major stumbling block.

Dont know if thats still the price but in August last year thats what Basel wanted from schalke who refused to pay.

Sorry didnt mean to make it sound like it was my idea  He's a very handy player with a few goals and assists in him and doesnt seem to have a massive ego so yeah i agree with you

Here's one of his from last year:

Yeah, how dare you! It was all my idea and if we get him it is because of me :)

I think we will have the same owner, manager and interpreter next season. A few fringe players will move on, but we will keep the core of the team. Lallana will stay...Shaw may want to, but the money may be too much to withstand:sad:

Shaw loves it here, the people he grew up with are now breaking into the first team. I can not see him leaving us yet, I can see him staying here another 2-3yrs. Depending if our club is still ambitious.

I don't think Shaw wants to leave, but am afraid that the club will find the offer too irresistible. Even Nicola set a price (30 million I believe) rather than saying a straight no. I'm sure KL wants us to do well, but we are still a business. She isn't like the owner of Chelsea who wants the cups and trophies and is willing to throw silly money at it. I am just hoping that we keep everyone next season and make such progress that good players want to come here.

How do you she doesn't want cups and trophies by keeping a good squad together. Then adding to it by spending big but not stupidly big on improving it.

Some people still view Saints as a club that can't keep it's talent.

Abramovich is rolling in money and bought Chelsea as a hobby. There may have been an element of hobby for Markus as well, but he also wanted us an example of how to run a club...financially viable with a strong academy. There will be a point that Shaw's price passes his true value, especially when you consider the players we could buy with 30-40 million. I don't want him to go as I want Saints to have top quality players and keep our best players, but I don't have to balance the books.
