To be honest That wasnt reall aimed at you more dubbed/hans grueber. lol
You just got the sharp end of the stick because you were the last post...lol

Although we disagree on opinions you have maintained sensible dialogue so I wil apologise for that. You have some really good posters on your board like Goonercymraeg, Superjack, Piskie. Some of the others could do with looking at hem as an example.

Aimed at me? Why is that?

Recent league standing is a faily good way of starting to form an opinion on how a club will do though. Particularly if the teams have maintained a similar level over the previous few seasons. Then take into account the changes made during the off-season and how ittle or much that is likely to effect the team and you can come up with a GUESS that is based on history. :)

Based on recent form: Liverpool might win a trophy. Arsenal won't win any trophy. <ok>

The most important thing people are forgetting is that Arsenal have better players in every position bar Suarez and Lucas' position and debatably the goalkeeper position. Everything else Arsenal trump Liverpool on.
It is that simple and straightforward really.

@astro -

Not at all and that doesnt follow my trail of thinking either.

Taking league form across a season and using a few years of it to make a judgement (as i said particularly if the team has stayed fairly stagnant) is likely to give a decent idea of where a team is going to end up - not always and there will always be differences e.g. Newcastle acouple of seasons back. But it does give adecent GUESS as to where abouts in the table a team is LIKELY to finish.

Any team can go on a decent cup run this season but it is very rare that teams go on to retain cup competitions the following year - Wenger winniong the FA Cup twice in a row being one of the few examples i can think of ;) So it is not a viable way of guessing a club will win a trophy UNLESS they are consistently winning trophies.

So your point doesnt combat anything i've said at all :)

click the article and it takes you to an old story completely at odds to the title. Clever bugger Hash <grr><rofl><grr><rofl>

What evidence is there of this? And didn't you reach two cup finals in 2012.

I would say two cup finals and 8th is better than 7th and no cup finals

Things are not always linear. You have ups and downs. When the ups outnumber the downs you are making progress. We certainly didnt do aswell in the cups last year, )no europe in the cup season) but ive seen enough on the pitch and in the transfer market to ensure that we are looking to carry on improving the team and in turn results.

I think Brendan is an ambitious talented manager and has been taught well. Which can only be good for us whilst he is in charge.

Of the six teams above us. I believe onl yManchester United and Manchester City have shown consistancy in the Premier league over a whole season recently. Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Everton are all suceptible to difficult spells and will drop points.

I think Manchester United will find it hard to be as consistant as they were under Fergusson and may drop points. I think Chelsea will however be much more consistant under Mourinho and will replace United in the top two consistant teams.

If Liverpool can be consistant and make the most of our lack of European football I think we can definately improve our points and position and be in contention for 4th.

That is unless we lose Suarez, in which case we are ****ed!
