Fair enough. Not a difficult job to win the Austrian Bundesliga with Salzburg, to be honest, but their last few managers have gone on to do well.
I used to work with a guy called Geoff de la Cour, back in the late 70s. Wondering if they are related, giving the unusual surname.
Hi Dragan, relegation threatened you say, money to spend in Jan you say, well, i'm your man! please log in to view this image #becarefulwhatyouwishfor
I seriously don’t want him or any manager of that ilk. But if we’re talking about being minnows in the league and survival being the aim this is the kind of manager you need.
We're not exactly a minnow - we've been in the PL for the last 10 years, plus from its inception to 2005. And we've been down that route with Hughes. Not fun at all.
I think that’s a ridiculous thing to say when you think how obscenely boring we’ve become to watch. No press, no identity. May as well have Dyche tbh
Cooper seems like Adkins. Can get a team out of the Championship but may be out of his depth in the PL. It's too early to tell regarding his ability in the PL but it's too big a risk for us to take.
Think your being a bit harsh on him. He done an unbelievable job in getting Forest promoted, bearing in mind they were bottom when he took over. He's had a good record with the England youth teams as well, winning the u17a world cup a few years back. Granted, he wouldn't be my pick as saints manager, but to write him off is ignoring his achievements in limited management experience.
I'm not writing him off at all. I don't want him because I think it would be too big a risk for us to take.
You could say that about a lot of the potential managers from across the continent that have been bandied about on here. If you're only considering those with prolonged, high level experience, then you'll be disappointed when someone like Allaedyce or Dyche rock up.
