Totally agree with your main point. Wonder if Snodgrass played the violin while spouting such claptrap.
I agree with you there, sometimes its better to say nothing at all. What he said wasn't wrong and I absolutely agree with his reasoning but it was always going to wind people up, especially those that are still bitter about him leaving.
Not into applauding the enemy. May as well applaud Stevie G as he comes to take a corner ffs. He was an average player for us over a short period of time, he's gone now, I don't see why anyone would give a ****.
He didn't want to be here. Yes of course he could have stayed til the summer but why would he if he wanted out? He wanted out and had good reasons for wanting out.
It's for that exact reason I'm not going to boo him either. I really couldn't care less that he left, it's not like it came as a surprise is it? I'll give him a welcome back round of applause when his name is read out, then on with he game.
The only one I've ever heard of was when we signed David Livermore from Leeds, it was some agreement he couldn't play in either game that season . Bizarrely when we loaned Olofinjana to Cardiff & we had Gerrard from them, they could both play in the game. Olofinjana duly scored. Again the only time I've heard of loan players playing against their parent clubs.
His £1500+ donation to the Megan Pratt fund should be enough to ensure he's not booed. Add to that the goals he scored earlier in the season that won us enough points to still be in with a fighting chance of staying up & I'd say a little light applause when the West Ham team is announced would do no harm. After that, he's one of them.
People are always keen to call footballers greedy bastards while ignoring charitable stuff like that.
To be fair to the charity point of course it's a vast amount of money from an ordinary mans point of view but from a footballer on 25k a week it's hardly a big percentage! Harsh but needs to be taken into context!
We will all be supporting our own players more than thinking about Snodgrass, everyone will for their own reasons either boo, clap or simply do nothing but one thing for sure once the game kicks off he is against us, he will want to do his best against us and has we all know is very dangerous from free kicks, he will be one of eleven players wearing a West ham shirt so I'm sure what ever happens at the beginning once the game kicks off he is the enemy to every city fan in that stadium. Always thought he tried his best for us like any professional should scored some very important goals for us, got a better offer from another club so like most he went but for me once they have gone that's it for me. I do normally clap at ex city players but I'm soon screaming, booing and hating everything they do once the game gets under way.
No it doesn't, someone earning £25000 a year would have to donate over £125 to make a similar percentage donation, how many people on here gave that much, how many gave a token fiver and how many didn't donate at all? Regardless of how much he earns it was a generous gesture and well above what most on here were willing to give.
