Not sure I really accept the "Three kids and a family" line when he'd have had no lack of offers in the summer, and he's on a decent enough pay packet in the mean time.

The 'security' aspect of his justification is bollocks.

He knew his form this season would mean a big contract somewhere else. He's a greedy bastard.

He'll now dwindle into obscurity now he's got that big contract.

The fact that he earns more in a week than the average working man earns in a year, just shows how out of touch with reality some of these players are( and not just Snodgrass), as far as his statement about his family security goes i think he might have been better advised to leave that bit out , to me he seams to be hiding behind the wife and kids, be honest Snoddy you went for the big bucks you didn't want to be at City you wanted away admit it.

He was in the form of his life, he won't reach that level again, he's also getting on and doesn't have a good injury record. He'll never earn this amount of money again in his life so he was absolutely right to take it and provide a secure future for his family.

Its not greed, its common sense, all of us would have done it given the opportunity.

He would have had the same offers at the end of the season. As it is he left half way through the season and stepped into an alien system where he has struggled to settle in. Had he stayed in an environment that was working and ended the season with 12-13 PL goals as he was on track for he would still have received plenty of good offers, if not better offers, and been able to adapt to his new team in the off season.

Completely disagree, he can provide more security for his family than the 'average working man' can, he can buy his children a house, pay for their university tuition...etc, that's out of the reach of most people and their children get saddled with debt as soon as they become adults. Why wouldn't he do everything possible to make sure his kids have comfortable lives? Its what all parents do except he's fortunate enough to be in a profession that enables him to do it better than most.

Oh please. If he's using his kids as a shield for the need for security just so that he can buy Tom and Sally their own penthouse apartments that's even worse.

What if his form dropped or he got seriously injured? He could have ended up in the Championship on half the wages and out of contract the following season.

Oh dear, so the poor petal would have to survive on 20k a week. Whatever would he have done for food and shelter?

    He survived fine last season.

Would he have had the same offers at the end of the season? Would he have had 12-13 goals? Is that a guarantee? I'd say no. What if he got injured? What if he went out of form? What if Marco Silva dropped him in favour of the faster wingers he signed? The only guarantee of more money he had was to leave in January.

Your reaction is down to two things; resentment that he chose to play for another football team and jealously that he earns so much money, its as simple as that.

I would have liked him to stay but I don't blame him for going, in a few years time his wage drops to nothing, he's right to take what he can, especially in his situation.

He had 7 league goals in half a season. I think he'd have added another 4-5. Particularly under Silva.

He must have already earned £3-4 million pounds in the two and half years he was with us (even taking a relegation clause into account)

Even after tax, that's already plenty enough to provide security for your family.

No it's down to the ridiculousness of his defence. I've often said I don't begrudge players trying to earn as much as they can, and if he'd said that it would have been fine. But to hide between some concept of needing to provide for his family is cowardly. People provide for their families on a fraction of what he earns.

Would you earn a fraction of what you could just to stay at a company you've been working at for a couple of years?

No, but if I left for more money I'd say I left for more money, I wouldn't say that I needed more money for my video game collection.

Its all relative though, he can provide much better than most can, his kids can be free of debt, free to pursue careers they want too...etc, everyone would want that for their kids too if they were able to earn that sort of money.

Ridiculous scrutiny from the media and fans means that being open and honest is not an option.

And funnily enough I'm currently earning a fraction of what I could to stay at the company I've been at for 18 months because I know the experience will give me a better earning capacity later.

Staying at City for the season and keeping us up/scoring a dozen PL goals may well have earnt him a better contract.

Then don't say anything, don't make up some half-assed excuse.
