I wouldn't blame him wanting to leave. Not from a money point of view, I agree with Hatty on that, but from a football point of view. They do have short careers and despite what some people believe, they do want to be a success and have memories from their playing days. No player wants to waste his peak years at an utterly dysfunctional club with no ambition to even stay up. He knows we're not going to sign anyone and he'll want to go and sign for another club where he'll have decent players around him to help him achieve something.

If we're keeping hold of him for now to get a bigger fee that's probably the best result we can hope for under the circumstances. We just have to hope his performances don't drop as a result of not wanting to be here.
No ambition to stay up!!! ****ing hell were 80 million in debt. Thought you wanted to be custodians of the club??
We spunked 20 million on **** in the summer. Astute buys and we'd be three or four places higher as the pl is shut this year.
They train they play that's it. They don't get involved they aren't interested nor should they be in anything else.

Are you seriously going to argue that we are showing ambition to stay up? :emoticon-0112-wonde

The £100m you get for staying up is a reasonably good incentive for having a go.

We committed to spending £18.5m in the summer, we didn't actually spend it all, Mason's deal will have been staged payments and the Dais very kindly coughed up £6m of it (which will have been about half the total amount payable in the summer). I'm happy for the Allams to have kept the money to pay down debt, but only if it's in preparation for them ****ing off.

I know why aren't Sunderland going to spend 50 million to stay up??piece of piss innit
Or burnley. They're a yo yo club now where's their ****ing ambition they only have tospend what 100 million and they'll walk it. Plus don't put relegationclauses into any contracts cos let's face it that's defeatist innit.

Why are you going on about paying mega millions?

Sunderland have some great players that we could only dream of, and more importantly they, Burnley and every other team have a full squad of players.

If you really believe all this stuff you keep posting about us being easily good enough to stay up and it's all Phelan's fault for not getting this quality squad to perform then you're beyond deluded.

Even the Allams agree, hence he hasn't and won't be sacked.

Dawson has now also confirmed that despite his contract running out in the summer, he's heard nothing from the club.

Yet more evidence of the shambolic way in which this club is being run .. this would be laughable if it wasn't such a **** up .. when will this nightmare ever end with these clowns in charge

Ellis Short has made it clear he wants out, he's sick of spunking millions every year, the club are £140m in debt and have the 11th highest wage bill in the Premier League, yet still struggle every season, they're a great example of how not to run a football club.

Though despite that, they still spent twice what we did this summer.

Burnley always keep the cash and try and compete with team that got them promoted, though even they spent more than us this summer.

From today's presser - Mike Phelan says the club has exercised 1-year contract extensions with Robert Snodgrass and other players. "Other players" include Harry Maguire, Jake Livermore, Abel Hernandez and Andrew Robertson.

Actually a good decision by the club. I doubt Daws would take a massive pay cut and it would be a risk offering a new one with relegation a strong possibility.

Dawson is a difficult one because he wants to live in the area but when we go down would he take 20k a week what he's probably worth?

With Dawson I'd look at a 2 year contract.
Also is he doing his coaching badges because if he is I'd like to see him given a coaching role at the club after his playing days are over.

Newcastle are about to bid £5m for Snodgrass according to the Star.

Kinell. If they swipe any more of our players or loanees I might as well just start supporting the buggars instead.

It'd make life a damn sight easier.

Away the lads!

Come on you Toon!

Gannin' doon the Scotswood Road...

Uggh. I've just done a bit of sick in my mouth.
