Plenty of managers have came in without Championship experience and done well. If they have tactical nous, can get a message across and motivate then they have a good chance. If you're heading in to the last 10 games of the season fighting for your life then of course the smart thing to do would be to turn to experience but thats not us at the moment. We are at the beginning of a project and hopefully will hire a manager that has a vision and can implement it, I don't care where he's from so long as he is capable.
I did say the other day I felt Shota and Acun in particular are watching the forum reaction and just responding to it a bit - I would really hope not but Acun likes to please the fans
That's just not true and it's the same stuff people spout when about players too. What we need is a good manager. If we bring in the best tactician in the league, we'll finish top 6
that's exactly the problem seri back at nice, was linked with barcelona, he has bundles of talent, but as much as we love this club why is seri here? why did fulham not renew his contract? he is not hard working, he is anonymous off the ball, a complete passenger and frankly a luxury most teams can't afford to have, fulhams squad last year was so far above any other championship squad it was unreal, they could have a passenger, same with tufan, magnificent talent with the ball, but offers far far too little without it no pressing, no tracking, no off the ball movement bags of talent but wasted mentality, i suppose that's why they're here instead of playing european football
Yes,we need a good manager and tactical know how wouldn't go a miss but another essential ingredient is a Manager who'll give a mid match or half time bollocking with the ferocity that resonates with some of these lazy twats....
Anybody concerned that it is not just Shota who is in deep water and struggling but Acun is also - his lack of experience and knowledge of the Championship are worrying. His choice of finding players and managers essentially resides on the only league he is familiar with, i.e. Turkey. I often got the sense that Hull City was to become a Turkish Club by proxy, a place to blood or rekindle careers of those who will become or were once darlings at home. Acun, by his nature, seems to live on the currency of human emotions, popularity & poor-boy-makes-good. But this latest widely publicised by himself adventure may be a venture too far - his stock will plummet if this farce continues and I do not know how he can turn this about short term or medium term. Fire Shota and with a lack of domestic links for real advice, bring in whom??? Maybe Acun is already back in Turkey seeking further Turkish advice on what to do next to rectify a problem in the English Championship...that doesn't bode well.
I genuinely believe everyone is overreacting. I mean, I know how bad we’ve been in the last few games and it has been painful to watch at times, but we have had awful luck with injuries and have some of our most influential players out of action/not fit enough yet. We have an owner that wants to do the best for the fans. Obviously himself also, but he is a hero in my eyes, finally saving us from what was before. He is ambitious, has spent money and his love for football is refreshing. It could be a hell of a lot worse! UTT!
I really don't understand the notion that a new manager must 'know the league'. What does that mean exactly? An experienced manager with proven tactical nous, good at managing players and a good communicator is surely well on the way to being a good manager, no? What is there in the Championship, or any league, that is so different from other leagues around the world? There's plenty of video around these days for a potential new manager to evaluate opposing teams. Of course someone who knows that already might start with an advantage but I'd question the value of it against other characteristics.
Intensity. Not every league plays Sat, Tues, Sat. This is my fear if we appoint from abroad again. We've had Slutsky - Out of his depth and didn't appreciate the intensity Silva - Great effort but ultimately glorious failure to keep us up Shota - Out of his depth Someone with experience of the Championship would be my preference for next manager
I agree with those saying that "Championship experience" isn't the be all and end all. However I do think the obvious concern with Shota is and always has been that he struggles to communicate. He often doesn't understand the question he's been asked in interviews and when he replies he often talks in long, confusing riddles like the drunk guy who keeps trying to talk to you on the bus. His job is to inspire the team to perform and also to get across a clear game plan to them. With his communication skills it's sort of not surprising to see us look a bit... uninspired. As for who Acun can get in. He's convinced top players to come here so I don't see why he'd have any issue getting a decent manager too. The ****ing Allams managed to get a manager in every time so it can't be that hard can it. There'll be plenty who are desperate to work at an ambitious club like us.
Thing is though, any decent manager should be able to come in and sort it out. The Championship is the fifth most attended league in the world, it's not as though foreign managers aren't aware of it and it's like this brand new world for them. The games are shown around the world because many of the clubs are former Premier League clubs. If they're any good, they should know exactly what it's like. Clubs like Wolves, Fulham, Watford, Brentford, Huddersfield etc have all had foreign managers get them promoted out of the Championship no problem, I don't see why it's suddenly a problem for us. We had Adkins who was alright, McCann who was pretty **** and before them Steve Bruce and Mike Phelan who were great and **** respectively. I have no problem with appointing somebody like Allardyce, Parker or Dyche at all, any of those would be a fantastic appointment, but simply being English doesn't make you brilliant and an automatic success, just like being Brazilian doesn't make you **** hot at football. Whoever comes in, whether they're coming from the Championship, Bundesliga, Serie B or the Ethiopian Premier League, needs to look at the squad, decide on the best formation for those players and then get the most out of them. What we've had is a string of managers who already know what they're going to play before they've seen the squad and then assume the players will simply slot in and crack on. We're also lucky enough to be in a position where we're not just looking at free agent managers but have the money to poach somebody else's manager if we need to.
Heard a little whisper Shota could still go before Luton game, Approached Dyche last week but he's waiting for a premier League club he's already spoken too, Parker is the man they're trying to convince to move up north, if they can convince him then Shota will be gone... Don't take this as gospel but it's from the same guy who told me about the holiday a few weeks before it was announced, he was wrong on a few transfers he told me about though
Pep had no experience of the Premier league. Nor many other very good managers of the Premier League. What’s different about the Championship. Well one for sure it’s a higher standard of play.
Well maybe not personally but they would be foolish not to try and gauge the opinion of all fans not just those on this forum. Acun is in the entertainment business-unlike the Allams-and knows he has to please the fans if he wants to keep them. He will have someone looking.
