FYI, plenty of Turkish news started to mention Sergen Yalcin for Hull City, a few examples:

Today: https://ajansspor.com/haber/acun-ilicali-teknik-direktoru-turkiyede-buldu-613415
3 days ago: https://www.yeniakit.com.tr/haber/a...yapacak-yok-artik-dedirten-hamle-1690525.html (not really a trusted newspaper though)

He was also a candidate before Shota is chosen. You might ask, who is he?

As a player Sergen usually labeled as most technically gifted Turkish player ever lived, but he was famous with his night life, addicted to horse racing and betting and also he played for all major 4 clubs in Turkey (he was the first one who did that, second is Burak Yilmaz). You might also remember him when he scored a brace against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Acun met him, when he was working as Besiktas correspondent.

After football he appeared in TV shows as commentator, then he became a judge together with Acun in Turkey's Got Talent where he got close with him. Following that he had spells in several mid-range clubs in Turkey, then he is assigned to Besiktas (where he came from youth ranks). He unexpectedly got championship but fired next season after a series of bad results.
The very last thing we need is another manager with absolutely no experience of managing a team in the Championship.

I can't see for a 2nd why he'll get 5 games. Luton will beat us and that will be that.

Don't get me wrong -I'm hoping what you say will be the case, but I was just speculating in case Acun is reluctant to pull the trigger even if we do get beaten by Luton

To be honest it would have made more sense to just cut the cord this week to give us 2 weeks to find the right manager and settle him with the squad but it also feels too soon.

I don't understand either when a gaffer is in thus position that you don't just let them go now. I can't think of an example where as manager has turned it around and become a success
Err fergie is a classic example of turning it around and what about nigel Pearson when we got relegated from the premier league instead of Leicester. Probably plenty more. However this won't be one

If he's just going about it in his own bizarre fashion and it isn't going well, it's obviously going to be a concern
He doesn't fly half way across europe to watch every game because he's got nothing better to do.
His credibility is at stake if this continues which is everything in his world.

Apparently conversations were had prior to yesterdays game.
Who is to say that Acun didn't "suggest" to him to make those team changes?
He's made all that effort to bring those players in.... do you really think he can then resist meddling if things aren't going well?

Most of us were calling for Vale yesterday because of his reputation rather than having seen him play.
However Shota would have seen him close up in training and chose not even to put him on the bench four days earlier.

We do have players who can stop the rot.
If he sticks with the 433. Brings mcloughlin in for fig and jones as defensive midfield with woods and tufan( harsh on slater i know) replace vale with longman and i think we might see a bit more fight. If this goes wrong too, sack me and bring in nigel adkins

That is utter ****ing bollocks

we were appalling yesterday
Nothing went right!!! Minimal effort from the midfield and Pelkas and we played a baby on the wing ffs he’s come in and looked lost. Swansea brought a young kid on for Joe Allen who’s on Loan and he looked like he’s played there for them for years! What does that tell you about our manager.
There’s no transition between defence and midfield no idea who to play it to no one making space and when it does go forward it gets passed straight back. Seri has to do his fair share of defensive work but doesn’t look like he wants to same with Tufan
Unless you think we got better as the first half went on <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

that game should have been 8-0 without question

Not really sure which part of my post you thought you were disagreeing with there. Think we both agree that yesterday was **** for lots of reasons and it doesn't look good. My post was specifically defending Seri when someone said he achieves nothing, which is easily disprovable because he factually creates far more chances than anyone else even though he plays nowhere near the goal.

I think it's very harsh to say Seri achieves nothing. He plays a deep role so he's not there to create goals, but as Sky showed today, he'd created more chances than anyone in our squad despite only playing 4 games.l before today. His ability to get us out of tight situations and up the pitch is excellent, and his progressive passing through the middle, often to Tufan, is very useful. Nothing went right today and it is a worry on a team level, but I don't think we need to start digging out our best players.

Seri, like Tufan, is very good on the ball.

However, off the ball, it’s like playing with 9 men. This could sorta be mitigated by having a physical ball-winner who constantly sits deep and protects the back four, but we don’t have that so the current midfield need to work much harder off the ball.

We really can’t afford to have two luxury players in midfield who don’t do anything when not in possession.

agree, we are in this situation because we have a manager who before Hull City had never managed in the Championship or any league in this country. Bizarrely before Acun actually owned the club he announced Shota would be the next manager of Hull City.Based on what, his record of managing teams in Israel & Uzbekistan ? Shota does not have the presence to mange this group of players, he's too softly spoken & I fear the players do not respect him. I remember a Liverpool player saying when Klopp walks into the dressing room it immediately goes quiet & no one talks. Is that happening when Shota walks in ? We need a strong manager who has managed in the Championship before to drill the players & sort this mess out.
