I agree , they are ugly , actually look miserable and I can’t understand bringing into a family when it’s more usual for kids to want a cute fluffy puppy.
To me , even the owners who claim to be responsible with a well trained bully are deep down worried - you don’t see them being taken for a fun day on the beach
I dont think they are ugly dogs mate personally. I know why you say so, but I think they have quite a handsome stature personally, but I wouldnt have one in a family, just like I wouldnt have any big dog with young kids. I do agree though about not seeing them having a fun day out on the beach or at the park though. I suspect there are some owners out there who know what they have and keep them out of the way of the public and use their common sense. I said earlier I had a dog who I felt was dangerous and I used to get up at first light to excercise her in the hope of seeing no bugger else.

I once had a 3 legged mongrel, bit of lurcher, bit of collie, god knows what else. He was a right ugly bugger <laugh> Never left my side mind.

The man that was attacked was actually breaking into the home of the dog when the dog attacked him.

He was - but it’s an animal at the end of the day mate. From what I’ve heard there was a confrontation so the owner of the dog knew what was happening. If I ever thought any of my dogs were in danger of taking a human life (which they wouldn’t they’re soft as **** but still) and I couldn’t stop it then I wouldn’t hesitate to kill the dog. A human life is worth more than an animal sorry.

Exactly mate. They’re a status dog and normally owned by clowns who can’t control them and would **** their pants if they’re put in that situation where they need to act. I’d never allow my kids around one of them, if I found out they were at a friends house and they had an XL I’d be straight there to pick them up.

99.9% of the time i would agree.
But...If someone had broke into my house, and my dog went for him, that's his luck out I'm afraid.

Another terrible tragic incident. XL bulldogs have become the latest "fad" and bred without any thought for temperament etc.

English bulldogs have been over bred to them point where they have major health issues, thanks in part to the ridiculous breed standards of the Kennel Club, but also feeding on the publics demand for these beautiful dogs.

The biggest loser in this will be the old Thyme Bulldogs, which the Kennel Club refuse to recognise despite the serious, scientific breeding they went through in an attempt to get the bulldog back to the breed it was meant to be and without the health issues current "churchill" bulldogs have.

Breeders then realised that taking an old tyme bulldog and breeding it to make these XL bulldogs was a lucrative easy way to make money, the fad caught hold and we have this sad mess now.

Licensed breeding is the only way to stop this mess

Just a guess on my part, but I suspect that these monsters will be cute as they come, as puppies.

I wouldn't say so, potentially easy to mix up at puppy stage with an old tyme bulldog in my opinion, which was a more measured scientific approach to helping the bulldog breed.

Totally agree. You've ignored the beware of the dog sign and thought I will break in anyways then whatever happens after that on your property is tough. They've shown no respect so why should you.

Disagree regarding the "breed" being to blame either. There is someone with 2 near us and they walk perfectly by his side not fussed by any passing dogs or people. Happy to let you stroke them and everything. It is 100% the owners to blame for a dog becoming dangerous and in the wrong hands any breed can be made into a dangerous dog. I was a dog walker for 3years so I've had experience with majority of breeds. Correct training etc any breed of dog will be ok but as an owner you have got to put the graft in from puppy stage.

XL bullies are awful dogs **** knows why anyone wants one other than for attention. Pig ugly looking things that shouldn’t be around kids at all. I’ve 3 dogs myself so it’s definitely not just a rant because I dislike dogs but they just shouldn’t be allowed, I’m bored of this “it’s not the dog it’s the owner” crack. They’re animals at the end of the day they all have it in them but most dogs can be controlled with ease by an adult if they decided to attack or snack.

An XL bully cannot and unfortunately the owners are too f*cking stupid to grab a knife and use it when their dog is mauling someone on their property.

Missus wants a Rottweiler and I’ve already said there’s absolutely not a chance we’re having a dog she couldn’t control if it decided to act up and I wasn’t there. Even a fairly strong bloke would struggle with a dog that’s 10+ stone. It’s just irresponsible and I wouldn’t feel comfortable whatsoever knowing it could pose a risk.
Walking down a street carrying a gun or a knife is illegal.

Round the NW the XL Bully gets used on the street by thugs as a form of legal weapon for personal protection and as a 24hr prorection system for their home.

It is but most attacks seem to happen within the premises of the owner. If you’re a big enough knacker to own an XL bully I’m sure carrying a knife isn’t out of the ordinary.

Is this an XL Bulldog?
The face and head doesnt look right to me mate. Coule be of course. I do think there are some pics floating around that maybe arent real. I think the eyes are much smaller on a bully and the face less creased. But the way the breeding is going I wouldnt put money on much.

It's an old tyme bulldog and a very good example of one. Bred for health reasons and carefully selected traits in an attempt to get bulldogs back to like they originally looked.

Backstreet breeders don't give a toss though and the xl bulldog was born, but just shows how confusing the XL bulldog debate can be.

This is one. Obviously you can see why it’s such an attractive pet.. <doh>
My previous dog was an old tyme bulldog, if he wanted to show off he could look just as vicious ( if I could get him awake long enough)

He perfected the chest puffed out, jowls back look when he wanted to show off to other dogs.

Yet was hands down the best dog I have ever owned thanks to his bloodline being true to the old tyme breeding and not mixing in all sorts for quick profit.

When he passed 2 years ago we got a Churchill bulldog from a bulldog rescue as the market had been flooded by idiots breeding for profit

Old Tymes are majority bulldog tho I think mate aren’t they? And Bulldogs are sound dogs they’re chill as anything. XL Bullies are bred from APBT’s with a little bit of a few other breeds and obviously Pitbulls are already an issue but then adding in a few others to make them bigger, stronger and rougher.

Old tymes are a mix of pitbull, English and American bulldog and bull mastiff.

If the Kennel Club had supported the breeding programme when they first appeared a lot of the issues now wouldn't have happened

Thats my thoughts, I have 3. One is small, one is large and one is massive, all are as soft as ****, but the bigger 2 have big barks, I doubt anyone would come anywhere near if they just heard them.

On another note we used to have a Rottie and she was a big softy, but people would cross to the other side of the road when I was walking her, my other half reckons they were avoiding me and not the dog!
