Set Pieces

Our stats in the games Hayden has played in are pretty good W/8 D/1 L/4 and they include the 6-0 Charlton game, 3-0 Burnley, 3-0 Boro, he was definitely very popular on here after our run in January.
Another lad we are most definitely missing who was involved about the time of Hayden is big Harry, I'd love to see these two back in, Maguire though you can't really see Bruce dropping any of his favourites to accomodate him. I'd go Davies/Maguire which also coincided with that good run, what a boost to have somebody like Dawson ready to slot in too.

Dawson is arguably our best player, I wouldn't drop him for anyone, ever.

I haven't personally been as impressed with Davies as when he first signed. I don't know if it's just me noticing it more than before but his ball work is so bad. He has to clear it into the stand where our other defenders could turn and find a pass. Maybe I'm being harsh I dunno.

I also agree with the OP.
Our players seem to have forgotten a lot of the basic skills and tactics of playing football and the blame has rest with our coaches.

It makes you wonder exactly what Phelan and co. do during training sessions, because like others have said, the deficiencies are glaring and are never addressed.
I suspect there is just a lazy assumption by the coaches that the players know what they're doing so all they have to do is keep them fit.

OK, if you have technically poor players like we did under Terence Dolan (ie no better than a decent pub side) then you expect lack of skill & finishing ability but when you have a team just relegated from The Prem full of international squad players pushing for automatic promotion back you don't expect to see this lack of finishing ability. Watching City is so damn frustrating. Useless corners, useless free kicks/set pieces, mis hit crosses, shots off target. I blame the manager & his coaching staff. These players don't need to work on their fitness, they are already incredibly fit. They need to spend every day working non stop on corners, free kicks, shooting from distance & getting the bastard ball into the back of the net.

Beginning of the year, if you are looking for another argument you won't get one, it's about opinions and mine is as valid as yours
Its not an argument but if you, me or anyone else posts bollocks you get pulled up for it.
If you say you think Hayden is better than Jake. Thats fine.
Our best run of form was in and around October, Hayden wasnt a starter.
He only played in 2 of the 4 league games in January. Subbed off in one of them.

<laugh> I didn't realise they were that late on, still, he did play 90 minutes in our biggest win of the season.
As i said he's only played 6 or 7 league games from the start.

Where did you get the stats for Hayden? Can you put up Tom's cos I seem to think we lose a lot when he plays. Brum been a case in point.
