Can't believe i'm on here having a my cock is bigger than your cock argument with King Chazz, take the win fella you're the boss
Throw ins are embarrassing. We don't even attempt to close down opposition players when they get one and we make our own look like a challenge in itself when it really isn't. It pisses me off no end seeing us take throw ins when the throw in-taker has to usher other players to make room. They should already be there, making room before the ball boy even chucks the ball back on the field. Snodgrass is mostly accurate with his free-kicks, perhaps unlucky not to score from one. Corners are just as bad as throw ins. We really need to up our game. If we were even slightly decent at set pieces we would have scored a few more goals when it mattered and perhaps picking up points where we previously dropped them.
Was tempted to start a thread on Powell on whether we should sign him or not after reading this thread, I think he looks decent and has a touch of class about him, not sure how much we spent on Diamonde but Powell would be a snip at less money. If we don't go up he would be a real asset next season in any case.
He's bigger than you would imagine when you see him too so thats an asset, got a presence about him and he's deceptively quick. If we could get him and Hayden in for next season that would be massive for us moving forward as surely the two of them won't break the bank.
You're right. He seemed to win practically all of the headers that were directed his way down that right hand side last night.
I noticed the same 3 years ago. Worse still the one who did often hit the target was Prostwich...Think Meyler and Brady where woeful from memory
Under EPPP rules there will be a compensation fee owed, but it shouldn't be significant, as it's based on the amount of league appearances a player has made at his parent club and Powell has made very few. If Man United were to make him a new offer, which he subsequently turned down, then the compensation fee would run to millions.
I dont think Hayden will sign. He hardly gets a look in,,and I'll reserve judgement on Powell until hes played more.
If I was Hayden I wouldn't be tempted at all to sign on a permanent due to lack of game time. Powell, I'm not convinced yet Diomande I am not convinced yet. Remain open minded but I've not seen what Brcuey claims to have seen in training. Set plays we've been bloody awful since the days of Geo and Andy Dawson, what the hell are the coaching staff doing to rectify; at face value not a lot? Scouting, who the hell is recommending these overseas 'strikers'? They need sacking!
I also agree with the OP. Our players seem to have forgotten a lot of the basic skills and tactics of playing football and the blame has rest with our coaches. It makes you wonder exactly what Phelan and co. do during training sessions, because like others have said, the deficiencies are glaring and are never addressed. I suspect there is just a lazy assumption by the coaches that the players know what they're doing so all they have to do is keep them fit.
He nearly always wins the headers in fact when he was playing regularly our keeper always kicks it out towards him because he was the only player who won the header.
Hayden's 21 in 2 weeks. He's hardly played league football, not at all before us. He's only started 6 or 7 league games for us. The few at the beginning of the season he was a rabbit in the headlights. He's behind 3, or 4 if you count Mo, experienced international Centre Mids. Its debatable whether Brucey was saying it to encourage him or being really truthful. But either way Hayden is hardly in a position to be dictating to any club.
He needs to be ahead of Meyler after the other day, or just in general. When I've seen him he looks the part and I have seen most if not all of his home starts, also our best run of form was with him involved which should send out a message that he needs to be involved more.
Beginning of the year, if you are looking for another argument you won't get one, it's about opinions and mine is as valid as yours
