After listening to that he seems quite positive but still can't work out what's going on
Seems something fairly drastic has happened with the current negotiations from the way he's talking about future investment and a number of parties showing an interest. Can't work out if he's trying to salvage this deal or looking elsewhere for investors
I've a feeling he'll come up with something but not sure initially at least it will be the game changing takeover we are hoping for.
But who knows flying carpet might be out again this time tomorrow
Anything a possible. Bloody hell man we beat Grimsby tonight.

The odd thing to me is that he never mentions them by name, just keeps on saying that he still hopes to bring investment in. It does sound almost like another person/ group is interested, just hope it's not a massive anti climax after hoping for FPP!

Just listened to the Interview and although it has eased my mind a bit, I do wonder if the all out search for a new manager could delay the takeover/investment or are we still hoping for a conclusion on Friday either way.I was hoping this was going to be asked during the interview but no such luck.
I wonder if they've been searching for a while already and that has delayed things. It's always possible that the Americans wanted their own man in prior to signing on the dotted line. Whether that be a DOF setup or a new manager or both.

He's being very cagey. I think(hope) they are still negotiating but the way he's talking about long term investment not sure its the game changing takeover we are hoping for. But who knows. It may have been off for days or they could be signing a deal as we speak. One thing for certain too much speculation in the press now so think we will hear something official in the next few of days

From reading all earlier interviews by Donald, he seems to keep saying he doesn't want a complete takeover, and he wants some involvement. He says as a lst resort, if it's best for SAFc he will sell, but it's not his 1st choice. I'm now thinking he wanted "Investment" as the word he has always used, and maybe these lads want a complete takeover, as don't want to see others reap what they put it etc. Total opinion on nothing but previous interviews

Must admit I’ve never got the hatred my friends and family have of Newcastle. Obviously I’ve always wanted us to be the best team in the world (even if that sounds child like) and would Newcastle to be the 2nd best.......but deffo 2nd best not 1st!!!
I have no hatred at all towards mags... I dislike SAFC idiots as much as I do NUFC..

I do however enjoy the banter between us, and won't give it up!

2nd best is pushing it a little like.

been thinking along those lines for around a week now, the fact that 'something seemed to be leaked' and everyone was 99% sure it was all done and dusted to almost complete silence, now talk of 'several parties interested' ...my own personal view is, the right thing for SAFC would have been to do as the americans wanted as they have the clout and vision to get the club competing again at the highest level (obviously there are still a lot of ifs and buts in there)...maybe the staffing issue was Ross but if it ever comes out that SD and/or CM have lost this chance due to selfish greed then they need to get away from the club asap.

i am, of course, still clinging onto the 'ironing out a few details' scenario but am really starting to get sick of the wait, almost at the point of not caring if it happens or not stage.

This part of the total sport interview was posted on RTG...

In the turtle splurt interview thread, but posting here too for relevance:

"I can't talk about the investment [takeover]. I know what has been said today, but the fact that I can't talk about it means it's ongoing... and I appreciate there's a frustration when papers report things, but it isn't like buying a house...ummmm... these are complicated things and these are big decisions for people to make, so that's ongoing and I can't say too much, but when I can I will... but what I can say, is that if any potential deal was dead, I could mention it, couldn't I?"

"This is the reality of it. Jack has left the football club because I've made the judgment call that promotion this season has the best chance potentially with somebody else. I'm really gutted and disappointed to say that and Jack has become a friend of mine and I'm sure he'll come back from this stronger at a different club potentially...But what has to happen now... Nothing has been pre-done [as in hiring a new manager]... It hasn't been done because of news on an impending takeover or investment... It hasn't been done because somebody somewhere else has left a job... We're now starting fresh and we've got to find our new man and we've got to get it right."

- Stewart Donald, Turtle Splurt Interview, 8.10.2019

Really strange day. Pleased Ross has gone but feel a bit deflated by the takeover talk. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Timing of the sacking seems strange though. Why not sack him on Sunday or Monday but why so close to a game. Is Donald desperately trying to find a compromise which the Americans or is it like people say , a way of trying to distract from the pending bad news? Who knows

Lots of angles can be played on the words spoken, what is sure is it cannot continue too long without coming out. Donald has said Friday, so let's see what happens then.

There might have been practical reasons, I guess Stewart would be discussing the decision with others first before formally meeting and telling Jack the decision reached. Depending on diaries they might not have had the chance to meet until this morning and then advised Jack shortly after.

Then had time to appear on total sport... I wonder why that was deemed necessary

I wonder if the people who turned up in the helicopter and were pictured with Methven at the AOL and spotted in the Sheepfolds were from another group of potential investors and nothing to do with MSD.

It's very suspicious to me like. He's in negotiations to sell the club (negotiating with at least one party). He's at a delicate stage of these negotiations. He doesn't yet know who will be running the club in the short term. He'll have some clarity by Friday. But instead of waiting a couple of days until he knows what the **** is happening he randomly goes out now and sacks the manager, and this just happens to coincide almost perfectly with the first major leak of the process (the Sun saying the takeover is off). Why wouldn't Donald wait? It's not as if he'll have much time to be thinking about new managers while he's still negotiating, and the decision might not be his when the negotiations finish!

The only logical thing I can draw from it is that one of the parties wanted Ross gone. Maybe Donald was keen to see him stay. The party threaten to walk, they leak info that they're done. Nixon prints it, genuinely believing it's accurate and they've walked away. Donald realises the backlash he'll get, Ross is quickly dismissed and one of the major issues is addressed (probably with more still to discuss)

If it was a housecleaning maneuver in lieu of the new ownership coming in and selecting their own man, he certainly could not say that due to the NDA.

He also said the exact opposite that he made the decision on his own.
